SARAH
Change has always been a difficult concept for me. I have had the same friends, have gone to the same school, and I have lived in the same town my entire life since I could remember.
Both of my parents made the decision to never move or to never get a different job, so my brother and I could have the best childhood we possibly could. However, things have gotten pretty nasty these past couple of years. My childhood home was rotting from the inside out.
Now, with everything going on, my parents finally decided to move.
Any guesses where we are going?
Blaine. Not Blaine, Minnesota which is currently twelve miles away, but to Blaine, Maine. Sounds stupid, I know.
I wish it were Blaine, Minnesota because I would be closer to school and my friends, but it's not. One thousand- seven hundred- sixty-five miles away is where I'll be starting this new profound journey.
Next week we are starting our drive to this new mysterious place. I am somewhat excited because I read up on some of the history and the place we will be staying at.
The house we are supposed to be moving to will not be ready for another month once we get there, so my dad's business partner will be hosting us in his cottage. There will be a pool, boating, hiking trails and so much more. Tons of exploring that I can do... If my parents will allow it.
It is in the middle of December, winter break just started, so I will be starting school in a new semester which will be nice.
My brother is seventeen, and a senior in high school. I am fifteen, a sophomore in high school. My brother and I have always been close, and we have always been there for each other. I couldn't imagine a life without him.
In elementary school, I had a difficult time with the nasty thing in the house. I had nightmares and sleep paralysis almost every night for about four months. Soran, my brother, was always by my side. He slept in the same bed as me and always held me close when I was scared.
Packing up the last of my belongings besides a few items of clothing that I will wear this week, I head down to the moving van. There are three vans that are leaving now with some of our stuff because of laws and regulations.
I don't fully understand it, but I guess it will work if my dad says it will.
I grab the last box and carry it outside. My brother is waiting by the front door, holding it open for me. "Last call." he says to me. "Last box." I respond.
Dropping it in the back of the truck, the truck driver closes the door and walks over to my dad. He hands my dad a clip board, my dad signs something and the driver heads into the truck.
I turn around and look at my brother, "You, okay?"
Running my hands through my hair, "Yeah, I just hope it works out for us, you know?" He nods his head and heads inside.
I look up at my house and see a dark shadow in my bedroom window. I hope it stays and never follows me or my family to our new home.
I hope it stays in Fridley.
Oh, did I not mention? I am a psychic medium.
