SARAH

"Yes, the damage done to his ribs and back is inconsistent with the crash." The doctor had walked into Carter's room right before I was about to disconnect myself from the tethered tubes and stab his father in the neck with a fork.

He takes the covers off of Carter's sleeping body and lifts the rob slightly to show his possessed father the bruises from his own two hands. The dark purple and grossly yellow bruises are now much faded, but there are still some texture bumps attached to his skin.

"When he first came in, we took x-rays to determine his state," he pulls them out from under the clipboard and shines them in the light. "As you cans see here, these two ribs were broken in the crash versus these two ribs were not."

The entity asks, "What are you implying?"

The doctor sets down the films, "there are many other bones and ligaments that are damaged from the crash, however, some of them have been previously damaged."

"Could they have been from when he was a child?" I look at the clock and see that the small and big hand had stopped. They have been in the same position for ten minutes. Ever since the doctor came in, they have been stuck in the same spot.

"No, these breaks and bruises must have been at least two months ago." The doctor further explains, "Either they were not healed properly or they were broken again and again."

"Interesting, he has never once come to me about him being in pain or showing any signs," the entity plays.

Carter's hand is placed in my own and I feel a touch of one of his fingers against my own. I know he can hear us and maybe even see us.

I just want him to wake up, so we can get out of here. The presence of the entity is probably is what making this whole things slower than it should be. The weakness is his father and Carter does not want to jeopardize that.

Afraid if I leave, Carter will certainly be in trouble. The entity is playing a game not with me, but Carter as well. His actions are loudly apparent.

"Before we do any further testing, we want to ask you a few questions and talk about the accident," the entity complies and walks out of the room behind the doctor. Not before he turns and winks at me.

I shudder at the thought of the entity winning this game. He did this to Carter and he will definitely get out of this mess. From Carter's bruises and the fact that my parents talked to the doctor first, implies that they told the doctor about Carter and his dad. It does not seem like there is any rush for the entity, so I am hoping I can pull this off and surprise it.

"Carter, you need to wake up now." I pull the covers off of him and shake his shoulders, "we don't have very long."

I shake him again, but this time his hands shoot up to my arms. The quick movement startles me and step back. His hands drop and he quietly mumbles something. The hair on his forehead are swept back and a cool breeze sweeps pass me.

Assuming Jenna is here, I close my eyes and focus on my surroundings. I can hear light breathing coming from Carter and I can feel the air cool. The sight of Jenna bounces, but I can see a white mist looming over Carter's body.

It's you...

Her hand presses against his cheak, "take care of him, will you?" Of course I will take care of him, "yes."

With the last bit of energy I have, I release it to Jenna. I feel the energy being drained from my body and is placed into Jenna. She releases Carter and disappears.

"Darlin' it's cool," his scratchy voice brings me to tears. "Oh," I run over to his live corpse and embrace him.

The warmth of his breath upon my neck bring joyful tears to my eyes, "Carter." Exhaling through his nose, "Sarah." His voice sends shivers down my spine, the feeling of relief overcomes me.
