SARAH
The water on the stove comes to a boil. Turning off the stove, I pour the water into two mugs. The hot chocolate packets are ripped open and poured into the mugs. After I stir the powder in, I bring it out to Carter on the deck.
"Here," I hand him one of the mugs and sit next to him on the swinging bench.
Last time I was here, we were at the party he held. The time the entity showed itself through Jasper and James. Shaking my head, I take a sip and hum in delight. The warm chocolaty taste making its way through my system.
The vision of pill bottles keep coming back to me. Both his and his mom, were either confused or did not include the pills. Carter never did pills around me, he never mentioned it. Just smoking cigarettes or weed. Even if it was weed, he never did it in front of me.
I play the vision over and ove again, the amount of empty bottles concern me. How could they all be empty and on the floor? Why would he do that?
Some rain, but not much. There is barely any snow on the ground, so I guess it will just be muddy footprints for now on.
"Are you cold?" Carter is more awake now, he is just doesn't move which is understandable. The blanket we share is thin material and is not very big to cover the both of us fully. I lean into him more and kiss his shoulder.
"No," I lie to him.
There is only one blanket here which is weird.
He smells of hospital and sweat. I don't think I smell that far off either. I suggested we take a shower to clean up, but he didn't want to.
I did however, after we got here that was one of the first things I did. I undressed myself from the hospital gown and took a nice steaming hot shower.
After about thirty minutes of taking my time to shower and use the hotel size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, I felt much better. The most refreshed i felt in a while. I drove here pretty easily without his help. Luckly. There wasn't too many people on the road and when the saw me, they smiled. Carter was asleep majority of the time, when we came up to the cabin he woke up. I helped him out of the car and into the cabin which was unlocked, he explained that he was here a few times while I was in the hospital. He stated that he either spent time in the cabin or his truck. His poor truck was absolutely totaled in the accident. Well, it wasn't an accident.
It is dark out now. The stars have come out and the moon is shining brightly at us. "Carter-" I say at the same time Carter says, "Sarah-"
"You go first," he says. I lift my head up to look at him, "how long was I under for?"
He looks away from me, the uncertainty in his eyes. His eyes wander a moment before replying to me. "A few weeks," I gasp.
"But, I was under for a couple too." My eyes soften, "so you're thinking a month?" He nods his head not being able to form the words. I take a shaky breath, "are you okay?"
Taking another sip of his hot chocolate, he tries to cover his teary eyes. I know he is upset and in pain, I want him to be comfortable.
My boyfriend has gone through a lot. Not only with his injuries, but emotionally as well.
I can't imagine what is going on in his head right now, not only did he have contact with his dead mother, but was emotionally tortured by the entity. I know the accident was claimed by the entity, but I wonder if it was because of the pills.
Was he high when he crashed?
I am about to ask him, but he interrupts my thoughts, "what did you see when you were under?"
