SARAH
"Hey girl," Becky greets me at our join desk in the classroom.
I guess there is a special weekend during the school year where all of the students gather at the school to have a bonding day.Teachers and students do activities, eat food, and sleep in the gym. We never did that at my old school, I have never even heard of such a thing. My parents are letting me go, if and only if, I spend the entire time with Becky or Soran. I chose Becky.
"Hi, so are you going to show me around? Tell me how things work. Where are we going to sleep?" Questioning her, I realize that most of our class is here.
She puts her hands up and stops me, "Woah, hold your roll."
"We have all night, dude," she plops her bag on the desk and wipes her hands on her pink shirt.
Most of our class is here with their bags and other stuff that they brought. We are allowed to bring three things from home besides our phones, chargers, and sleeping stuff. I brought my notebook, headphones, and carrot sticks. I am not too keen on fast food or bland burgers made in the back office rooms. Plus, I would rather have a good healthy snack than get third-degree food poisoning.
"Okay, it is seven," Becky states. We are given a schedule of events, booths, and activities that take place at certain times. When we go to a place or do anything we have to check off a box on the sheet and have a staff member sign their name on a line next to the box saying we did it. "I think we should start with getting our toes done and then we should go over to the beauty parlor to get our hair done." She flips her hair as she says beauty parlor.
She beams at me, "Come on, it will be fun." I can't help, but laugh at her, she has never really acted this excited about stuff like this. Yeah, she is always peppy and shit, but she is never really outgoing at school.
She grabs my hand and leads me to another classroom down the hall. A bunch of other students are already in line to get their nails done. "The line is too long, let's do something else." She pauses a moment looking around the room, "No, we have all night to do stuff."
We stand in line for about five minutes and I am already over this. The smell of nail polish and overused rubbing alcohol is burning my nose and is probably giving me some sort of cancer. I cough into my hand and receive a few stares from the people in line ahead of us.
"Did you see his face?" A group of girls a year older than Becky and I are talking about the boys they are crushing on.
"Yeah, it was busted up so bad, I hope the other guy had it worse," one of them said.
They all agreed on the guy beating up the other guy. It is so weird hearing people talk about other people while in a room full of people who can hear them. I talk to dead people so at least the living can't hear me. The line moves up and the girls begin to whisper, I lean in closer to hear what they are saying. One of the girls whose back is facing me says, "Did you hear about their breakup?"
Another girl clasps her hand over her mouth, "Shut up, are you for real?" She shakes her head, "Yeah, I heard she broke up with him because he wasn't giving her enough attention, but can you blame him?"
"She is literally such a S.L.U.T., she fucked his best friend, he dumped her, then she got with him." Damn, I wonder who she is talking about. She sounds like a slut.
My shoulder is hit from the side with enough force my hand hits the girl in front of me. She turns around and squints her eyes, she looks me up and down. Before she says anything I tell her I'm sorry and it was an accident. She quickly turns around and goes back to gossiping with her friends about the boys and the apparent slut.
