SARAH

My parents were not happy when they met us at the hospital. They were unbearably upset and very disappointed in us.

Carter was admitted overnight and then discharged two days later. James is still there. It has been a week. I've never met the Haris' until last night when I saw his mom talking to my mom in the living room at the cottage. She was clearly upset and confused about why he was with Soran, Carter, and me.

We didn't have a plan of action to tell anyone what had happened. One thing we knew was that we needed to all be on the same page.

Mrs.Haris wants to talk to me and Soran about that night, however, my mom wants to talk to me first. She has been busy with the hospital bills and work on top of that, so we haven't gotten around to it.

I need to talk to Soran and Carter tonight. The priest is coming tomorrow to tell us the plan for the entity. There is more evidence of the entity and I am pretty sure the entity is gone for now, but I need to be certain.

I have to see James.

I at least need to be in his room to feel the power of the entity, otherwise, we are all in trouble. Soran has been in his room, he hasn't eaten or slept in days. I stay with him at night. I can tell he is scared and worried, but I know he will make it.

It's the curse, the curse will haunt him.

The hospital isn't too far and it is the weekend. I grab my jacket and head downstairs. The hallway on the second floor wraps into two different staircases. The stair from the bottom all the way to the top meets in the middle. The living room is on the right-side down, so I go down the left and make my way to the kitchen. My mom's keys are on the latch, I grab them without making a sound and go to the garage.

I close the door and get in. I know the second I start the car she will hear it, so as I turn it on, I reverse. I get to the bottom of the drive and see my mom angry, yelling for me to stop. I keep going until I can no longer see her in the rearview mirror.

A train is passing through over the tracks, so I pull to a stop and put the car in park. I am only fifteen, so legally I can't drive. Before we moved, my mom and dad taught me a little bit and Soran let me practice after our parents went to sleep. The town is small enough where the roads are basically one with some side roads and barely any cars.

The train passes and feels slower than ever. The crossing sign is light up red and blinks every other second. I turn the radio on, music plays softly as I watch each cart pass by. I never liked trains, they are always noisy and slow. The conductor definitely takes their time, I have been sitting here forever. Each second feels like a minute and my patients are getting disturbed.

I need to get going before my mom or dad comes to find me. There is a side road that I have passed before and it is right after the tracks, I need to get there to get to the hospital. If I take that road it will add time to my drive, but it is less risky of me getting caught. The train continues, but I see the end of the train coming up.

I reach my hand up to the clutch and move it into drive, the last cart passes, but the divider doesn't open. The lights keep flashing for another minute.

"What the fuck is taking so long?" I ask myself.

I take another look around and see nothing except flashing lights. Carefully, I drive forward a little bit just in case there is a sensor.

Nothing happens. "Come on!" I slam my fists on the wheel.

Over in the tree line, there is a spot I can park the car. If this thing won't work, I can park it there and walk. I reverse the car and pull onto the grass. A covered place is between the trees and the road. I park there. I get out of the car and lock the doors. I trek up to the top of the road and look back. The car can't be seen and the lights are still flashing.
