Chapter 19
“Nine?” asked the owner of a small phone shop.
“Yeah, I’m buying for friends,” said Archer.
“I’ll just get the rest from out back, as well as the sim cards and numbers.”
Tyler waited until the man was out of hearing range before turning to Archer.
“Nine? There are only six of us, and then Marian and Lucas make it eight.”
“I know that, but I want to have a spare one – just in case.”
The man returned to the front desk and gestured at the phones.
“Okay so just pop one of these into each phone, the number for each is written on the sim card,” said the shop owner.
“Thanks,” said Seth, taking the bag off the owner and waiting for Archer to pay.

Marian rested her head on Lachlan’s chest; wondering (more like hoping) whether he was still hurt.
Lachlan took out his phone and dialled a number.
“Yeah Benny, we’ll have some kind of seafood thing today. You know what kind of seafood I like so just do something along those lines.”
He closed his phone again and put it on the end of the spa.
He kissed the top of Marian’s head and smiled down at her; he had the perfect girl in his arms, and no one could take that away from him...

The boys tore down the street, having a race as to who could get back to the forest in the quickest time.
Tyler was way behind them; not liking idea of a race at all.
Seth was right on Archer’s tail, trying to swerve past him and take the lead.
“Not a chance!” yelled Archer over his shoulder, blocking Seth from overtaking him.
“I’ll get you some day,” laughed Seth, as they turned into a place that would take them straight into the forest.
They got off their bikes and waited on the outskirts of the forest.
“Tyler’s a pansy,” chuckled Seth as they saw him coming towards the opening of the forest.
“You guys, what if the police had caught us?” asked Tyler, getting off the bike.
“You mean caught you – we were going way too fast for them,” replied Archer.
“Tyler you drive like an old grandma on a scooter. Seriously, I hope I’m not the passenger on your bike if Lachlan was chasing after us,” said Seth, rolling his eyes.
They took the bikes and slowly pushed them further into the forest – deciding it was best to wait until everyone got their practice up before they drove them through the forest.

Marian sat on the edge of the pool, slowly nibbling on a piece of crumbed fish.
