Awful sister

'I have to go back to the mannor.' Lula told him that night as they lay in bed. Severus apartment really was small and his mum had one bedroom the nurse had the other and severuss was the smallest since he was away at school and at the malfoys for the past five years. So they lay in his twin size bed. He watched her sit up and dangle her feet over the edge.

'I have to go back and tell luci happy birthday. I do it every single year at midnight on his birthday. Im not missing a year because of my idiot parents,' she told him.

'What if you get in trouble?'

'Im not a child. They cant punish me.' Lula told him unconvincingly.

'Yet youre scared.' he remarked

'Terrified.' She admitted. 'When luci and i were children they would drill information languages and spells everything that would be useful for the day we went into the ministry took a job in a powerful position...' she told him. 'they drilled so much into our heads at such a young age. Going to hogwarts was like freedom. Thats when they started leaving us be. The house elves started to take care of luci more and more and when i came home for breaks they would leave completely telling me to take care of my brother and pick up the slack. As though i wasn't doing something important at Hogwarts.' Severus wiped at her eyes with a gentle hand. 'Luci worshiped father his first year at hogwarts wanted to do everything perfectly so he could impress him. I think luci thought that if he was top of his class made all the right pure blooded friends that they would come home but they didnt.'

'Our first year, christmas lucius told me he wrote to your father and asked if i could stay' severus recalled.

'Lies. He knew they wouldnt be there and he also knew they would hate you. Just like they hate everyone. Even their own children.' Lula informed him.

'Youre a good sister, a god friend lula.' Severus told her

'Thank you severus'

'And i think you are perfect. Just the way you are.' He added and she smiled back at him.

'You really know how to make a girl feel better dont you sevy?' She questioned leaning back and kissing his cheek. 'Alright 11:59, time to be brave.' she declared. Ill be right back.' And just like that she was gone.

'Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear luci!' Lula sung in hushed voices as she hugged lucius tight he was laying in bed tears in his eyes until he saw his sister.

'Lula!' He declared

'Shh' she hushed him. 'Not so loud'

'Where did you go?' Lucius questioned

'Severuss house. Im staying with him until tom gets back,' lula told him

'I can come to?' luci begged her. 'I will pack and-'

'They would kill me.' Lula told him kissing his head. 'Lucius i love you so much. Its been you and me for forever now and ive loved it that way but you have to stay. You tell me the moment they leave though and ill come back love okay?'

'Promise?'

'Pinky promise' she said sticking out her pinky. He hooked hers with his and she as they twisted hands around and kissed each others thumbs pinkys still connected. 'I will make you that cake. Twice as big and we are going to stuff our faces until we are sick with sweetness!' lula told him.

'Do you hear that?'

'Whoes he talking to?' They could hear their parents getting closer outside luciuss closed door.

'Hes too old for imaginary friends.' They went on.

Lula disappeared just in time for their parents slamming open lucis door.

'Who are you talking to?' they demanded.

'Just reciting the positions in the ministry of magic,' he lied.

'Youre back!' severus said as he paced his little room.

'Thanks for letting me stay.' She said falling into bed. 'I suppose the charade of the perfect family is over.' She teased.

'no family is perfect.' He reminded her.

'Malfoys have a reputation to uphold.' She said lowering her voice to sound more like her father. 'malfoys need to be feared and respected, a position of power at all times... sometimes I wish I was a muggle.' She admitted. 'perhaps my parents wouldn't have such high standards, wouldn't care so much about all the political garbage... luci and I could have been kids... you know my parents are probably disassembling the trampoline and filling in the pool with the blood of a sacrificial lamb to remove the stain I left on our name...'

'you didn't do anything wrong.' Severus reminded her.

'in their eyes I did.' She let out a sigh as severus lay next to her. 'now my luci is going to suffer the blow back from my outburst.' She turned to him. 'I'm an awful sister.' She told severus.

'you are the best sister. Lucius even says so himself.' Severus declared.
