Note: this isn't the really a well-written chapter in my opinion. I haven't fully solidified Haruka as a character so some mannerisms of hers here may come off as too strong or inaccurate. But I will be editing this when I can
A couple of rounds later————
"Now, time for the fifth match today!" Present mic announced.
"May the best one win, Kanami." Haruka challenged. "You're competitive," I replied, walking off.She seemed more serious than usual.
--------
"This match is a battle between two recommendation students! Two with strong quirks, Shiro Haruka! Versus—Raiha Kanami! Let's see how this fight plays out! Ready...start!"
"Let's start small." Haruka started, making a stream of average-height, paper-like creatures with claws.
What the heck are these?
I got up on my platform and the monsters immediately tried to claw me. Their flowy and dynamic movements made it hard to predict their next attack.
The creatures slithered and swayed around the field, many at once surrounding me and blocking my line of sight.
While distracted, I was picked up by one of them and thrown to the side. Before I could go out of bounds, I pushed myself forward with water. I tried to push the overwhelming walls of paper-thin creatures with a stronger pressure of water but the creatures then thickened and burrowed through, knocking me onto the ground.I looked ahead. Haruka was just standing there, fighting without moving a damn inch. Her hands stretched out and swayed to control the movements of her customized creations.
My face contorted in frustration and swiped my arms up, manipulating my water to push the now thin creatures down. But before my attack hit my opponent, the thin creatures crowded and barricaded her.
The creatures separated after the impact and lowered. "Be more proficient." I heard her say.
"What?" I exasperated."You're a recommendation student. I admit you were helpful during the previous games we played but during a time like this, you're not taking the opportunity to show your capabilities. I saw you as serious but what are you doing?"
She had a mix of confusion and irritation on her face. That with a judgemental look made some sort of agitation rise within me, it resembled that of my old classmates whenever I talked about U.A. I can do so much more, so much more but something wouldn't let me.
I kept quiet and jerked my head to push the thought out and sent the water I had emitted earlier at the creatures, hitting and pounding them down repetitively.
"I'd prefer you not be so rude. The battle's only begun and I don't appreciate what I'm hearing." I said, aiming the water now at her.Just then the flimsy creatures crowded around her and merged to become some giant feline creature. Its paws had no claws but I was sure it was compensated for by its size.
Goodness, I have to get away from this huge thing now?
The creature was charging at me at this moment but instead of dodging by flying to the side, I flew up.
Based on what I know about Haruka's quirk, her creatures have mobility and eyes but it doesn't have a personality like Tokoyami's Dark Shadow."I guess I can do this without feeling bad."
I slid down the back of the creature to cut and weaken it but it didn't seem all that affected. Instead, the creature grew more eyes on its body. I jumped away in horror.
No matter where I moved, however, the thing could see me now.
"I'm doing something here and you're not doing much. Where's the power?" I heard Haruka say. "Can't you shut up?" I jeered, pushing her down with water I summoned by her side while I flew over. "Stop with all the power and capability talk. You don't even know me well yet you're making judgments."I looked to the side to see whether the creature was running at me. It was but it looked...smaller. It was slower too.
I turned back. "You're getting tired. You won't have sufficient energy to keep fighting."I controlled the water to go around the creature and lift it. Gosh, it's heavy.
"People themselves know their own capabilities and limits. Knowing mine at the moment means doing what's best and I know this is the power I can muster out of myself right now." I reeled the creature in. "I go at my own pace."
I fully opened my eyes and the next moment, Haruka was out of bounds.
"Haruka's out of bounds! Kanami advances to the next round!" Midnight announced. "Kanami beat Haruka! Wow, this fight was quite interesting! But anyways, Kanami advances to the next round! Now that completes the final five!" Present mic added.I walked awkwardly to Haruka, tilting my head as she got up. "Good fight," I murmured, bowing at the crowd before walking into the stadium. I didn't want to have to deal with an awkward walk to see Recovery Girl.

"Hey, great fight out there!" Kirishima complimented. "Thanks! How are your injuries?" I asked Kirishima. "I'm better now, you?"
"My injuries were not serious, just multiple paper cuts. I'm fine." I smiled, pointing at Bakugo, "Looks like there might be a chance I fight Bakugo." "Oh, yeah that's true. Well, you might be in for an epic battle!" Kirishima said.
"Bakugo's gonna fight a lot today. Tokoyami and maybe you! Then maybe in the finals, too. " Mina points out. "He's gonna be tired after this," Sero added. "Yeah yeah, I'll take you all down!" Bakugo challenged, getting up to prepare for his next fight with Tokoyami. "Once I win, you better brace yourself, Antenna," Bakugo said. I touched the red parts of my hair. "Antenna?" I said, confused.
"He called me something worse: Dunce Face." Kaminari groaned. I laughed sympathetically.————
A/N : This chapter is shorter than normal but I think the battle gets the job done. School's starting again for me tomorrow so updates might come a little slower.
Hope you enjoyed! 💗
