Before Michael had left for school the next morning, he checked around his room probably three times for the spider from the night before. He didn't see any sign of it, so he figured it escaped. He was positive that there would have been spider juice if he managed to kill it with his notebook.
Michael and Ashton were driving to school. Ashton had offered Michael to drive, dangling the keys in front of his eyes as he sat in the passenger seat, but Michael refused. He felt off today. It was almost like Michael was able to hear every little movement. It was like Ashton was having breathing problems because Michael could hear every inhale and exhale from him; but when he looked over he saw that Ashton was sitting calmly and his chest rose and fell normally.
He was also able to see the smallest movement from the corner of his eyes. It really ticked him off. Half of the time he was worrying that it was that spider, so he'd flip his head around to see Ashton's sweater moving from the wind flowing through the open car window.
"Mike, you okay? You seem worried." Ashton parked the truck in the school parking lot, pulling the keys out. The music immediately stopped playing. It was silent in the car for a while, but to Michael it was almost like there was a loud sound that came with it.
"Yeah, I'm good. I just--" he gulped before turning around to face Ashton. "I just didn't get enough sleep."
Ashton nodded his head. "Same here. Harry had more nightmares. He woke everyone up in the house running to my room."
Michael started to get out of the car, sliding his backpack on before closing the door behind him. "Maybe Harry should move his bed into your room. Or get one of those blow-up mattresses."
Ashton let out an airy laugh and raised his eyebrows before locking the truck behind them. "You know there's hardly any room in my room for him. It's bad enough I have to cuddle up with him when he sleeps with me. And when you sleep over it's even more weird."
"You don't like cuddling with me?"
"Are you saying you do?"
Michael scoffed and walked ahead of Ashton. He smirked before taking the steps up to the school entrance. He didn't answer Ashton as he walked in the direction of his first period class.
Ashton skipped up to him, trying to catch up with his fast pace. "Can we go to the bathroom real quick?"
"Are we girls or something?"
Ashton snickered as they turned a corner in the hallway. A few people were scattered in the hallways, most of the stoner kids were hanging out around the school mural. "Yeah, I gotta go change my tampon." Ashton elbowed Mikey and laughed, his smile wide and his eyes practically closed. His dimples made deep crevices in his face, and Michael felt like he could put quarters in them.
Just as Ashton stopped laughing, which wasn't that long after, his eyes opened and saw Gaby walk past them. Ashton's eyes widened as she gave him a confused, offended look, usually the look she gave Michael.
"Do you think she heard that? Fuck. I have to explain--"
"Ash, calm down. She probably just saw me again and thought about how I'm an ugly waste of space."
"Mikey-"
"Let's just go to the bathroom."
They hurried off to the bathroom. Luckily, no guys go to the bathroom in the morning before first period. But the janitors still didn't do a good enough job of cleaning up after school because it still smelled horrible in there.
Ashton went immediately to a stall and locked it behind him. Michael zoned out as he stared at himself in the mirror. His super hearing didn't help very well in this situation.
