SARAH
I am sitting in the front office waiting for the counselor to call my name. I decided to sign up for the Drawing and the Photography class. There is about seventeen other students in both classes.
Last night was the first fight since we have been here that I slept in the same bed as Soran. When he woke up he didn't say anything, so I guess I was right that he didn't mind it.
It was lunchtime, so I bet he was in the cafeteria with his new friends. I am happy for him. He is making new friends and already has plans this weekend. I heard him ask my parents if it was alright and they agreed. He is going to a friend's cabin or whatever he called it, this weekend and is actually excited about it. Back in Minnesota, he was short on the friends' list, but they were really good people.
I think him and Courtney are more than a thing now. Lately, he will get a text and turn his phone over, so no one can see his screen.
"Ms.Allen," the counselor waves her hand and allows me into her office. She is a beautiful woman, her short blonde bob frames her face perfectly and her blue eyes stand out against her skin tone nicely. "What brings you in today?" She sits down at her desk and motions me to do the same from the other side.
"I want to sign up for some art classes," I tell her.
She types something into her computer, "that's great, we have Drawing, Photography, and painting open at the moment."
"I like drawing and photography, so I think I want to do that." She types some more and scrolls on the screen. "Perfect, you are all set up, I emailed you the requirements and the outline of the classes." She explains, " you must talk with the teacher about catching up and the classes are after lunch- 45 minutes each."
"Okay that sounds good, do I start today?" If I do, it will be in ten minutes. "No, next week is fine, the system will take about twenty-four hours to load, so it will be best then." She moves the computer to the side and hands me a piece of paper." Write down your strengths and weaknesses here and I can give it to the teacher." I do as I am told and hand it back to her.
She thinks for a moment, "I do want to talk about your move here, just some insight on how you are doing." I didn't really want to, I wanted to go back to class, but since there were now nine minutes left I felt I had to. "I'm doing great." Short and sweet.
"Are you making friends okay? Keeping up in class?" Struggling to find the answer, I start playing with the bracelet on my wrist.
"Um- making friends, not so much, but I am keeping up in my classes." She nods her head. "That boy you have been hanging around with, Carter?" I nod, "do you think you get along with him?"
"I guess," I'm not sure what he has anything to do with this. "He is a good boy, I think you two will get along nicely." If he ever stops making fun of me.
"That's all, you can leave if you want." She stands up and opens the door for me.
"Have a good day, Sarah." She waves me off and I walk back to class.
When I got back there was still some time left before class started again. I took out my drawing book and started to draw. From the bottom corner, I drew a line diagonal to the middle and then drew flower petals around it. I then started to draw the woman I saw at the house thing. I outlined her face and drew her eyes, her lashes were not long, but not short. Her nose was rounder with a hint of shading and the cheekbones were higher than what I saw. I shaded her face some more when the notebook was taken off my desk.
"Hey, give it back!" Carter had it raised in the air and looked at it intently. "Why did you draw this?" His face was red with anger and his hands tightly gripped the paper.
