Kai's P.O.V

It was later at night and I was watching tv on the sofa. Cream walked into the room wearing sweats and one of my sweatshirts. I smiled as she walked over to me. "Hey, you okay?" I asked, noticing her mood. "K-Kai I can't stand this! I can barely sleep!" she said, tears threatening to fall down her face. I gave a small whine, telling her to sit down next to me. She sat next to me, trying to hold it together. "It's okay, I know you're struggling. I promise it won't be for much longer." I said, in an attempt to comfort her.

She gave a deep breath. I rubbed her back trying to soothe her. "Please don't stress Cream. I hate seeing you so upset..." I said, smoothing a loose piece of fur out of her eye. Cream gave me a look before shoving her face in my chest and letting out a cry. My ears folded as I gently petted her head. "I love you. It'll be okay." I reassured her.

A couple of minutes later she relaxed and I decided to call in early for tonight. I ushered Cream to our bedroom and had her relax in our bed and decided to go brush my teeth. I could hear her whining and whimpering. She wrapped herself in blankets before crying. I then crawled into bed with her, bringing her closer to my chest, careful to not squeeze her. "Cream... I'm here for you. I'm sorry you're going through this." I said, putting my tail against her legs. "No, Kai, I'm sorry! I shouldn't be crying! I mean I've been doing this for two months and they're coming any day now and I should be in my best mood!"

Hearing her cries made me sad. "Hey, listen to me. It's okay! I don't know what this is like! I love you okay? I'm here to help you. Get your rest. If you can't though, I'm here. I'm not leaving you Cream, ever." For a few minutes, she closed her eyes. I rested my head on top while taking a deep breath. I know she had been having a few rough nights lately. But it hadn't been nearly as bad as tonight.

She cried and clutched herself. "Kai, it hurts!" she cried. I sat up, rubbing her thighs. Then I got up to the closet where I had a bag packed and took it out. "Do you think... they're coming?" I asked her. Her eyes widened. "I don't know..." she whimpered. My phone was on the nightstand so I picked it up and called Shadow. He didn't pick up right away but he did pick up. "Yes?" he said, answering somewhat annoyed. "Shadow! Look, I know it's late, but... Cream's not feeling good... I'm not sure what to do." I explained.

I could tell he was worried. "Hang on, I'm going to get Sonic real quick." Once again it was quiet. Cream's cries sounded painful. I moved closer, putting her head on my lap. "Shh... It's okay I promise!" I said, trying to comfort her. "Hey, Kai! It's Sonic, how's she doing?" I sighed, rubbing her hair. "She's trying." I said. "Ask her if her back is hurting her. Or if she feels like she's being squeezed really hard." he told me. I turned to Cream. "Does your back hurt? Like, badly? Maybe you feel like you're being squeezed?"

Immediately Cream nodded her head, reaching out for my hand. "A lot! Help me!" she cried. "She said yes..." I said. "Kai, you need to get her to a hospital! Cream's in labor having contractions!" Sonic told me. I looked down at Cream who was breathing heavily now more than ever. "Okay! I'm taking her now!" I told them. I got our bags out to the car before heading back inside for Cream who tried her best to walk. "I've got you, how are you?" I asked. "I-It's getting stronger a-and- I'm just in a lot of pain!" she cried. Grabbing her arm, we made it to the car where I held her hand as I drove all the way to the closest hospital nearby.

I could see it on her face that she was trying her best to stay strong. "KAI!" she shouted, gripping onto the car's interior handles. "Hang on! I'm almost there I swear!" I told her. "I-I'm scared!" she cried again. I pulled up and managed to get her inside where doctors and nurses helped us get settled into the room. Cream carefully walked around the room, clutching herself. I tried my best to comfort her but I didn't really help. She still seemed panicked. "I don't think I can do this Kai! What if something goes wrong? What if I can't do it?! These are your kids and I don't want to ruin anything!" she cried.

Fear filled the room as she held onto me. "Cream, it's going to be okay! I talked to Rouge and Blaze over the phone. They said they're coming to help you so you don't have to be alone while doing this. They know more about this than I do. All you need to do is have enough strength to keep pushing forward. Our kids need you right now because they're coming to us. I love you, more than anything! I believe in you..." I said, kissing her forehead. Eventually, her pains got worse and she was in bed. I tried to soothe her the best I could but I just couldn't.

Screams and cries filled the room as Cream's pains got worse. Blaze and Rouge came into the hospital room in a rush. "Oh my gosh! Hun this is happening now!" Rouge exclaimed as she rushed over to her side. "Kai, the nurses might ask you to leave in a little bit. Cream's only going to get progressively worse. Which, speaking from experience, you're going to start freaking out more." she told me. "No! I-I need to be here for her! She'll freak out without me! What if she needs me?!" I cried.

Rouge walked over. "Hun, trust me, it'll be okay. But Cream's already stressed out enough! Seeing you stressed might make her stressed out even more! You've gotta trust her! She'll know what to do!" Having heard that, nurses came into the room, coming toward me.

"Alright, I'm going to have to ask you to leave. We need all hands on deck and lots of space to make the mother comfortable! I reassure you she's in good hands!" the nurse replied. I gave a huff getting close to Cream one more time. "I promise I'm not too far." I said, kissing her softly. She kissed back before looking into my eyes. "I'll be okay... Just don't go too far!" I smiled, giving her one last nuzzle before heading out.

Her friends reassured me they had her which lead me to go into the waiting area where I was met with some of her other family members. Shadow more specifically. "Don't worry, Cream's got this." he told me. I hugged him, hearing Cream's cries of pain, unsure of how I could handle it. For once, he didn't push me away.
