"What?" Paul asked defensively as he drove Aurora home in his truck. "I'm not saying anything bad, I just think he's gotten a little close to you since" he motioned between the two, "we started up."

Aurora rolled her eyes and took in a deep breath. "You're so right, Paul!" She gasped wide-eyed. "Its almost like I hang out with you guys everyday!"

"Alright, I can do without the sarcasm."

She giggled at his jealousy. "Come on, I'm yours. What more do you want?"

Paul pulled to the side of the house and threw the truck in park. He turned to Aurora as she glistened in the sunlight. She seemed to become more breathtaking by the minute to him.

"All of you."

Aurora squinted her eyes. "And by that you mean..?"

He shrugged. "I just want to be a part of your life." Aurora opened her mouth, but Paul kept talking. "I know, I know, I already am, but you know that's not what I mean." She shut her mouth back up unable to meet his gaze anymore. "You're holding out on me. I can feel it. You can kiss me, hold me, leave no space between you and me but... I still feel like you're afraid of me. You just put on a show when we're with the pack."

She didn't know what to say. Paul still had plenty more.

Paul sighed and moved her chin, making her meet his eyes. He couldn't get over the deep brown color. They swallowed him and made him feel weak.

"I told you I could never hurt you. I meant it when I said that. So tell me why you're so distant."

Aurora mulled over everything that had happened since Paul had imprinted on her just months ago. He could never hurt her, at least he hadn't yet. She'd seen him go ballistic over Bella slapping him, which was understandable given his temper. What would happen if she ever hit him in anger? Could he be so angry he'd kill her? Would she ever be able to hit him over something?

She wanted to be honest with him about her thoughts, but they seemed too insulting. She'd never been afraid to be too honest in the past with guys she had dated. Something about him softened her.

"You would never hurt me... on purpose." Paul grunted. He tried to argue, but Aurora was persistent. "Please, just let me talk." She licked her lips afraid of being honest. "I know what it's like... to be mistreated by someone you think cares about you." A deep frown plastered Paul's face as he allowed her to keep talking. "And I know that you would never do that to me. I have convinced myself to trust you blindly. I just... I know what you're capable of. I've seen it for myself... and Emily."

Paul thought for a moment, finally understanding her hesitancy. He wanted to pry more about the mistreatment she endured, but knew better.

"As God as my witness," Paul held his pinky out to Aurora, "I'll never hurt you, on accident or otherwise, as long as I live..." Aurora smirked realizing the sweet intention. She locked her pinky in his and he finished his vow. "...or I'll kill myself."

"Paul," she sighed. He kissed her, not wanting her to go back on his vow. Before things could go too far, as they had before, Paul pulled away. Aurora smiled at him and opened her door. "Bye."

As soon as she spoke, Paul's face turned in distaste. He reached over her and shut the door in an instant before restarting the vehicle.

"Whats going on?"

"There's a vampire close by. I need to get you out of here."

Aurora nodded turning back to her house when she noticed Bellas red truck across the road. Bella had to be home.

"Wait, Bellas here--"

She reached for the handle again when Paul put his hand on hers. "Its too dangerous. We're outside the boundaries of the treaty. I can't protect Bella, but I can get you out of here."
