Silence.

Felix had made his final argument.

Aurora was vacant. Felix couldn't read her. He needed an answer. He took her hand in his. "Cara mia?"

She came back from her thoughts and made a decision.

Aurora wanted Paul.

Felix was certain of who he was and what he wanted in his life, but who he was and what he wanted did not match Aurora's life. She finally saw what she had been missing. Aurora valued her life and all of its possibilities. She wanted to graduate from high school and get out of Forks. She wanted to go to college, for what though she didn't know. She wanted enjoy living a little before she inevitably came back to settle down in a home near her dad. She wanted to get married and someday become a mom and share her life with her little family. She wanted to see her dad and fulfill his life until he had no life left to live. Aurora wanted to live.

Now that the question had been answered there was one problem left to face. And he was standing in her bedroom waiting affectionately for her response.

Felix was certain he would never lose, but that was only because he was capable of taking her by force and changing her without hesitation. Aurora wished she had chosen Paul that afternoon and that he was there to get rid of him, but according to a Jacob he would be gone by morning if he wasn't already gone.

Bella and Edward wouldn't be back until tomorrow. The Cullens lived far away, but how would she be able to get ahold of them without alarming Felix. Not to mention the fact that he had already been waiting for her answer a substantial amount of time and she couldn't possibly stall much longer.

Aurora was alone. Alone with a vampire.

"Felix..." she started.

He gently squeezed her hand. Aurora thought fast.

"You're right. I shouldn't expect you to change. I'm sorry that I've been so harsh on your lifestyle. This is who you are."

Felix smirked a little. He held out his other hand seeking her approval, and she gave it to him. Aurora placed her other hand in his and maintained her most affectionate composure. She smiled warmly, the way she used to when she dated the hundreds of losers she knew would never last. It made them melt like butter. The same could be said for Felix who smiled fully back.

He slowly began to bend down and get his face closer to hers. Aurora knew what came next. This, she decided, would be her last first kiss.

Felix's lips connected with hers. Aurora kissed him back, subtly shuttering the nice more from his cold touch. His lips felt dead. She did have to admit though that she was impressed by his technique. Aurora imagined that this was definitely not his first kiss either. Pretending or not, she wouldn't let him be the better kisser. He seemed pleased with her extra efforts and was thoroughly convinced that she wanted him. Felix began forcing himself on her when Aurora stopped him.

"Felix, wait!" He froze, startled by her sudden outburst. "I don't—I just don't think I'm ready for that."

He cocked his head. "Don't you want me?"

Aurora slowly nodded. "Yes," she lied, "but..." she thought up an excuse, "I think this should wait until... you change me." Felix did enjoy the sound of that, and so she continued. "You're so much stronger than me, I don't want you to break me. Besides," Aurora roamed her hands around his shoulders and chest, "it might be more fun if I have a little to give back."

Felix's grin turned into a devilish smile just picturing the union. He couldn't have agreed with her more.

"We had best get a move on then, inamorata. Masters will be so pleased to have you come home with me." He pecked her lips.

Aurora grinned back. "Well, does it have to be now?" She questioned.

Felix was puzzled. "The kings would want you back in Volterra right away for your transformation. We must go at once."

She could see her plan was beginning to fall apart. Luckily, she had grown quite good at thinking on her toes and sighed a sad sigh. "Can I be honest with you?"

"Of course, inamorata. You can tell me anything."

She gave him her big glossy eyes. "I don't think I'm ready to leave my dad? He's all I really have left in this world, and I just wanted to spend a little not time with him. You know, alive."

Felix thought awhile, trying to be understanding. " I suppose we could always leave tomorrow."

"Well," Aurora rubbed her arm. "What about a month?"

"A month?"

"Please please please," she crawled up into his lap. "I swear I'll never ask for anything ever again." She pecked his lips one after another after another. Aurora quite enjoyed acting. "I mean, when you think about it a month really is just a tiny blip in eternity."

Felix's breath was taken away by her. She said all the right things to him and made him swoon easily. He brushed her hair behind her ears and left another long lingering kiss.

"One month and then you're mine forever."

He was in serenity as he hugged her close. When Aurora was certain he couldn't see her face, she allowed her worry to plaster itself there for a moment. His words were a song to him, and an obituary for her.

Felix finally released her from their embrace and kissed each of her hands individually.

"I'll be leaving tonight for Volterra. I will be back to retrieve you in a month."

"I'll be waiting," she held his hand and he walked away from her, acting as though the second he would let go of her she would be devastated.

"Until then, cara mia."

Another gust of wind and he was gone. Aurora was alone. Finally.

She stayed silent, afraid that he would be listening to her for the rest of the night. She didn't trust Felix, and was more frightened of him than she had ever been. Now, it was worse though because she had posed as a lover. Dumping regular guys was tricky itself because late some nights she would catch them slowly driving by in their cars just pining over her. Felix was no ordinary guy. When he realized her plan was deceitful, he'd kill her.

All she needed now was to get ahold of Paul before he left before the month was out. She would tell him how she felt and admit she wanted him and only him. Then he would protect her as she told Felix to respectfully take a hike.

One month.

That should be plenty of time.
