Edward and Bella had left for Florida. Charlie had been skeptical about letting them go alone together, but Renee had insisted they'd be okay in her care.

Aurora had contemplated on going through with her plans to meet up with Felix. Being alone at night with a vampire put her on edge. She couldn't even begin to explain the torment it put Paul in just thinking about the possibilities.

Against her better judgment, she did it anyway. Just as she had done the night before, she jumped out the window with the tree branch to help her down and made her way to that same clearing in the woods beside her house. Felix was there waiting.

He smiled at the sight of her. "Cara mia, you look radiant as ever."

Aurora hadn't slept the passed few nights and could feel the weight of the bags beneath her eyes. She sighed knowing what a wreck she must've looked like and wondered if he really meant what he said.

"Shall we go?"

Aurora stepped back. "Go where?"

"There's something I wanted to show you."

"I'm not sure I'm comfortable going anywhere with you."

"And yet you're here."

She thought a moment and once again decided against her better judgement. Hesitantly, she moved towards him. Felix turned and crouched down allowing her to jump up onto his back. Aurora clung tightly to his shoulders. She could feel the cold skin of his even beneath his clothes, it sent a shiver down her spine. It was in this moment she desperately missed Paul, but reminded herself that Felix too deserved a chance to be seen.

"Hang on tight," he warned in a cool manner. She braced herself unaware of a vampires physical abilities.

They took off at a speed unlike any she had ever seen. Aurora knew the shifters ran fast, but she had never sat on Paul's back before whilst he'd been in motion. Her eyes teared up from the rush of wind hitting her face. She clung tighter to Felix and pressed her head down to his shoulders squeezing her eyes shut.

The ride was brisk. When she felt the world freeze around her, Aurora felt a wave of dizziness and nausea. Felix gently set her down and she nearly fainted when her feet once again hit the ground. Her head swirled as she looked around trying to figure out exactly where they were.

It was a hilltop overlooking a sunset with the greenest grass Aurora had ever seen. There was a sparse setting of trees that were different from the ones in Forks, these reminded her of willows with the long, flowing vines covered in leaves. Sunflowers bloomed in the high grass below the hill like stars scattered across the night sky. It reminded her of the prairie pictures in a history book she had seen once before.

"Where are we?"

"A prairie on the eastern coast. I found this place once decades ago on an outting. It's right at the center of noninhabited grasslands. Its miles from any farmland or housing, no one comes out here."

Aurora turned to Felix and gasped. Although they were stood beneath a willow tree, the spots of the setting sun shone through that hit him made his skin glisten like jewels. He noticed her stare and smirked to himself.

"You don't know much about vampires, do you?" She shook her head with her mouth still agape. "I figured the Olympic coven would have given you some form of explanation about our kind."

"Olympic coven?"

"The Cullens."

"My sister spends time with the Cullens. I don't trust vampires."

Aurora locked eyes with Felix recalling who she was with.

"Was that due to your... shifters influence?"
