Madison's POV.
"Saan ba kasi tayo pupunta at bakit kailangan pa nating mag-out of town para lang magawa natin iyong audio interview?" mahinahong pagtatanong ko kay Russel habang nagmamaneho siya ng sasakyan.
"You'll see," tipid niyang sagot. Seryoso at nakatuon ang kanyang buong atensyon sa malawak na highway na dinadaanan namin ngayon.
I just inhaled a lungful of air as I leaned my back against the car seat. I closed my eyes, enjoying the fresh breeze of air outside the window. I was about to fell into sleep when my phone rang.
A sweet smile was drawn into my face after checking the phone. It was Randall who wanted to video call me.
"Hey, sweetie," bati ko sa kanya noong sagutin ko na ang telepono.
"Mommy! Ikaw, nakaalis na pala?" masayang bungad ng anak ko.
Nakapantulog pa si Randall habang nakaupo at kumakain ng kanyang agahan. Nasilip ko naman sa screen si manang na naghuhugas sa harap ang lababo.
"Mommy is sorry for leaving without saying goodbye to you, ha? I just don't want to wake you up," I said.
"It's okay, mommy. But can I play with Nathaniel and Nathalie later?" pagpapaalam pa niya sa akin.
Nathaniel and Nathalie are one of his closest friends in the village. The twins lived on the house next to ours. Nathaniel and Nathalie's father Noah, is also a good friend of mine and also a kind-hearted neighbor.
Pareho kaming dalawa ni Noah na single parent at mag-isang nagpapalaki ng mga anak. Madami akong nakukuhang mga aral sa tuwing magkakausap kaming dalawa, lalo na kung ito ay tungkol sa parenting.
"Yes, you can. Ihahatid ka na lang ni manang sa bahay nila matapos iyong tutor session niyo ni teacher Judy, ha? Will that be okay with you?"
"Yehey! Awabyou, mommy! Mwa!" masayang tugon ng anak ko sabay napaflying kiss pa mula sa screen.
"I love you the most, sweetheart. Send my regards to your Tito Noah, okay? I'll be home in a few days," saad ko naman.
"In a few days? I'm going to really miss you," nakabusangot na sabi ni Randall sa akin.
"Are you sure about that? Your Uncle Trevor will going to sleepover at our house while I'm away for work. Baka nga hindi mo pa ako tawagan kapag binisita ka na niya. Haha," I said then chuckled softly.
"REALLY?! Then can we play video games while he's here?"
By the time I have mentioned Trevor's name to Randall, he immediately started being inattentive to everything I am saying. This just show how much he is fond to be with his uncle all the time.
"See? I know you will not even notice my absence. haha. I will allow you to play video games but you should be in bed at 8:30 pm, okay? Or else, I will completely ban the game at home," I said.
"C-can I talk to Randall for a minute?" Russel said softly.
I turned my head and face him. "Do you want me to pass you the phone?"
"Yes, please. Gusto ko lang sana siyang kamustahin," he answered.
"Mommy! Mommy! I'll talk to you later. Uncle Trevor is here. Uncle!" Randall said.
"Wait. Your dad wants to-" I wasn't able to finish my sentence because Randall has already hang up the call.
Nang ibaling ko uli ang titig kay Russel ay nakita ko ang pagkadismaya sa kanyang mukha. Mabilis niyang ibinalik ang kamay na ipang-aabot sana niya ng telepono sa manibela ng kanyang kotse.
