Madison's POV.
"Is that Chairwoman Divina of Silverio's Silver Corporation?"
"Why is she kneeling down? She looks sick."
"I don't know, but who is that woman in front of her?"
Iyon ang iilan sa mga pag-uusap na nadinig ko sa mga tao nang bigla na lamang lumuhod sa harap ko ang nanay ni Russel. Kilala siya bilang kagalang galang na babae sa Pilipinas dahil sa mga kompanyang napatakbo na niya noon, kung kaya't hindi malayong hindi siya makilala ng mga tao sa loob ng museum.
"A-anong klaseng palabas mo na naman 'to?" pagtatanong ko sa kanya habang nakakunot ang aking noo.
"I am not putting up on a show, Madison. I... I am here to give you the apology, which I should have given to you years ago," she said weakly, as she lifts her head and look up to me.
"I-I'm sorry, Madison." Chairwoman Divina started sobbing really hard in front of me. "I'm so sorry for how much pain I've caused you and your family," she added. Tears were flowing down her paled, wrinkled cheeks.
"Russel have told me that your father committed suicide after I got fired him on my company. I know it's too late, but I still would like to apologize," she said.
My jaw dropped in a split second and wasn't able to utter a single word at her. I was too stunned to speak. I felt that my tongue became suddenly too thick to formulate a verbal response.
"Also... I'm sorry for breaking you and Russel apart. It breaks my heart now that I've realized that my grandson Randall, wasn't able to have a complete, happy family because of my selfishness. M-my poor little boy... he doesn't deserve this." Bakas ko ang labis na pagsisisi sa kanyang mukha. Parang rumaragasang ilog ang mga luha sa kanyang mga mata habang siya'y nakatitig sa akin.
"Your sorry won't fix anything, Chairwoman Divina. You better just get back to the hospital before it's too late," I said coldly. As I was about to turn my back and walk away, she immediately grabbed my tigh and cried to me as hard as she can.
Oh God! This woman is crazy! How can she beg me desperately in public? Wala na ba siyang dignidad na iniisip matapos siyang maglupasay sa sahig at umiiyak na lumuhod sa akin?
"I am not asking you to forgive me, Madison. I know my sins are unforgivable."
"Then what do you want from me?" I asked her in a frowning face.
She wiped her tears and cleared her throat. "I... I am begging you to please get back with Russel. My son still loves you, iha. He... he really do," she said.
"Seriously? Naririnig mo pa ba ang sarili mo ngayon? Gusto mong balikan ko si Russel? Samantalang noon ay puro pang-iinsulto at pagbabanta ang natatanggap ko mula sa'yo, para lang layuan ko siya. Tapos ngayon ay gusto mong magkabalikan kami?" Kunot ang aking noo nang tanungin ko siya.
"I'm dying, Madison. I don't have enough time left and all I want is to see him happy before I die. I know I have done a lot of horrible things to you, but this is least thing I can do to make my son happy," she said.
I felt that her hands on my tigh had suddenly started to tremble. "You and Randall is everything to him, iha. Kahit hindi mo na ako patawarin... balikan mo lang iyong anak ko," aniya habang patuloy ang pagtulo ng mga luha mula sa kanyang mga mata.
Nang akmang tatayo na si Chairwoman Divina matapos ang kanyang pagkakaluhod sa harap ko ay bigla na lamang itong natumba sa sahig at nawalan ng malay. Nagulantang ang lahat ng mga tao sa loob ng musuem nang makita siyang nakahandusay sa sahig.
