Arc 3 - Chapter 22

Everyone was giving it their all— thought Rimuru.

The Sports Festival's activities were only going to be revealed on the day of. But even so, Rimuru observed that each and every single one of his classmates was putting an effort into their training.

Bakugo's explosions grew larger and deadlier.

Todoroki's combat abilities sharpened.

Deku was learning how to control his output with Rimuru.

The three most likely contenders for first place except for Rimuru were training intensely. It was a matter of time until the festival begins.

And, on the day of the Sports Festival...

"Man, the bag checks are taking forever!" (Female Reporter)

A brown-haired woman yelled to no one in particular. 

"What can you do? The security's tighter than ever since that incident." (Male Reporter)

Yes. That was a fact. Ever since that incident, UA had raised their security several notches up. In order for the parents of the students to feel at ease, this much was to be expected. Especially at an event such as the Sports Festival.

"Usually, everyone watches the third year stage. But this year, the first-year stage is the one to watch!" (Male Reporter)

The hype around the first-year stage was tremendous. It was only the second time in UA history that the first years were more popular than the third years.

-Class 1-A's waiting room.-

"I wish we could've worn our costumes..." (Mina)

"To keep everything fair, we can't." (Ojiro)

That's true. It truly wouldn't be fair if Deku was wearing the costume I modified for him. None of you would stand a chance! 

Albeit rare, Rimuru was talking smack for once knowing how hard Deku had been training. Rimuru felt like a proud older brother with how far Deku had progressed in his training.

But a certain Todoroki caught Rimuru's grin. He stood up and proceeded to head in Rimuru's direction.

"Rimuru, Midoriya," Todorki called out to us, startling Deku in the process.

I stood up, and so did Deku. I replied, "What is it?" 

I tried to be intimidating, but I was far shorter than Todoroki. Deku's only 2 inches taller than me, so he's not much help either.

"You may be able to take All Might's punches, but I will defeat you, Rimuru." (Todoroki)

"Oh? I like your attitude, I look forward to it then." (Rimuru)

Todorki seemed like he was done with me, so he moved past me and stood in front of Deku. This guy... I don't know what his deal is but he doesn't like us.

"Midoriya, looking at things objectively, I'm stronger than you." (Todoroki)

Deku furrowed his eyebrows, "...That may be true, but I will not go down without a fight."

Hoho~ It looks like Deku's gotten a bit of confidence. I wonder what happened?

But anyway, it was clear that Todorki was out to get me and Deku specifically. Why was that? My question was answered right after I wanted to ask Todorki about it.

"You two may be favored by All Might, but I will rise to the top. Keep that in mind." (Todorki)
