Arc 3 - Chapter 29

"W-WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!" Present Mic shouted as the 10M point suddenly transferred to Rimuru's head. Even Eraser Head was confused and seriously thought something unbelievable just happened.

However, in a world of superheroes and superpowers, the crowd only got fired up and a cheer erupted as the match came to an end. The arena was extremely loud, even for one its size. The excitement building up over the goose chase between Monoma and his pursuers burst as an unexpected outcome ended it all.

Many pro-heroes couldn't get over the fact that the headband suddenly appeared in Team Rimuru's possession.

All but one.

"As expected of you, Young Rimuru!" All Might cheered loudly. 

The display of coordination and cooperation between Young Rimuru and Young Midoriya's team was simply superb. It was like they knew each other ever since their days as toddlers.

The main one commanding Team Rimuru was Rimuru himself, however, the other three are not to be scoffed at. And as for Young Midoriya, his control over his power has grown quite rapidly these past few weeks. Truly impressive. I must ask Young Rimuru what kind of training they used since I was unable to be with them because of Hero Work.

All Might was better off not knowing the truth, but he would soon later know anyway. 

The aftermath of the Cavalry Battle left a lot of students in defeated spirits. Especially Bakugo and Todoroki. Almost everyone on their team felt the same as their leaders. It sunk into their cores, "How could they not catch a single team." 

That statement would be both a reason for motivation and humiliation.

Rimuru knew this would happen and tried to instill this into them as a lesson. Of course, Rimuru was still feeling guilty and decided to find a way to apologize. Talking to them now would only dampen their spirits further.

"I went too far, huh..." Rimuru sighed and scratched his head looking at his classmates.

≪It is for the best. This festival was made for this exact purpose. What you did master was simply making their lessons much more impactful.≫

I think so too, but I can't help but think in their shoes. I would feel extremely frustrated and would most likely look down on myself. I'll make it up to them one way or the other, they're not bad kids.

"Rimuru-san," Monoma called out to me.

Uh-oh, I completely forgot about Monoma for a moment there, is he going to—

"That was a most wonderful performance. Truly, you are the only one in Class 1-A that truly belongs in it." 

He was spouting nonsense I couldn't understand. 

He got closer to me and held a fist to his chest. "We will support you all the way. You better make sure to win it all, Rimuru-san."

—Ah, that's what he meant. Even though the 10M points ended up in my hands, he and his team doesn't seem to be affected by it that much. I was wondering why that was, but he gave me the reason before I asked.

"We're satisfied with the looks of those other Class 1-A students as they kept tripping over each other's feet."

Hoo boy, this guy's pretty sadistic.

"Thanks for your support. But Monoma-kun, you shouldn't underestimate my classmates." Monoma didn't quite get what I meant, but he looked like he was trying very hard to say "I understand".

How much does he hate my classmates?

"Nevermind. I hope you come to understand their potential one day." I turned around and walked away, but I had one last thing to say. "Of course, I also see the potential of Class 1-B. All of you will be excellent heroes in the future. See you next time."

With that, I walked away.

I heard a commotion behind me, but I didn't pay attention to it.

As I was about to head toward the exit, I suddenly noticed Izuku and Todoroki talking to each other. No matter how I go about it, I'll run into them in this hallway. Oh well, here goes nothing.

"Hold on. I'm not just gonna let you pass me like that."

Todoroki eventually noticed me as I was trying to silently pass. Well, if I wanted to hide I could've just made my presence unnoticeable.

"It looks like you're busy talking with Deku, are you not? Who am I to interrupt." I said sarcastically. Though, it looks like he didn't get it.

Todoroki frowned and stood in front of me. "Just as I was saying earlier. I will not lose to you two. I don't know how Monoma kept getting away, but I will win in the end." He was quite determined, but I didn't know why.

"Todoroki-kun," Izuku spoke up. "We... we won't lose either! Of course, that means I want to win first place too, but you don't know just how powerful Rimuru is." 

Oi oi oi—

Todoroki looked at Izuku. He went closer to him and both guys were now face to face. Todoroki looked Izuku in the eyes. "So what? If Rimuru is strong, then I will have to get stronger. I have no idea what kind of power Rimuru's quirk is, but I have a hunch about yours."

Rimuru and Izuku started to sweat. Whatever Todoroki said next would decide Izuku's fate. 

"You're All Might's love child aren't you?" Todoroki bluntly said.

Rimuru and Izuku's facial expressions turned blank.

"Excuse me?"

"Is this what they call Deja Vu? But where have I heard this phrase before..."

Izuku was both relieved and confused at the same time. Rimuru was merely experiencing a solid case of Deja Vu. 

Todoroki didn't stop there, though. "What's wrong? Did I hit the bullseye?"

Izuku quickly denied Todoroki's guess. "Of course not!"

Todoroki backed a bit away. "In any case, you are acquainted with the Number 1 Hero. That alone gives me enough reason to take you down. And as for you, Rimuru..." Todoroki merely looked Rimuru in the eyes, never completing his sentence. After a long pause, he let out a "Hmph" and walked away.

"W-Wait, what do you mean by what you said?" Izuku asked before Todoroki left.

Todoroki kept walking, but he replied to Izuku's question. "My father has always been Number 2, and All Might has always been 1. That's all."

With that, Todoroki left. Rimuru and Izuku thought that was the end of their problems for the day, but they were quite wrong.

"Deku...!" Bakugo yelled in the opposite direction of Todoroki. 

Rimuru frowned and said in a hushed voice, "Here we go again..."
