Diamonté's POV
"CHUPS!" my grandmother called booming down the hall way and bursting into my room. " Likkle Pitney you nuh see seh time a go........ Time to get up now now now" she said standing by my door frame.
Growing up I always hated that name but since I've lived with her for the past few years, I guess it grew on me.
I turned over on my my back looking up at the glowing stars on my ceiling. " I'm up nanna...... What time is it?" I asked waiting for a response. My room was extremely dark, I had black out curtains because I couldn't sleep with any lights on.
" Umm, it's 7 o' clock now," she answered.
" Seriously nanna my flight is literally at noon."
One thing wid nanna she a guh early anywhere she going.
" It better you early than late........ Anyways come down to the kitchen for breakfast."
Now that's what I like to hear.
Love yuh belly too much my subconscious mocks me.
I quickly got up out of my bed and made my way to my bathroom to brush my teeth and to do my skincare routine.
I made my way down the stairs and entered the kitchen taking a seat at the island where there was a platter of food layed out in front of me. I was really shocked to see all my favorite breakfast items from pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, toast, croissants, fruits and several drinks.
I looked up and saw nanna carefully watching me and my eyes immediately welled up with tears because of the overwhelming feeling of love that I was feeling. I knew my nanna loved me very much and she made it her point of duty to tell me everyday. I really loved her so much because she has taught me so much in this lifetime.
My grandmother walked over to me and pulled me into a hug and rubbed my back.
I knew she was going to miss me and I was most definitely going to miss her because I've lived with her for the past six years while I went to law school at FAMU; I had a wonderful time in school despite the few times I told nanna I was going to drop out to become a stripper.
Dat woulda neva happen.
In the end it all worked out because I passed all my courses and got my juris doctor degree and I was chosen as one of the two valedictorian for my year.
Now I was heading back home to Jamaica to be a bomb ass lawyer and business woman like my mama.
" Come sit down and eat this wid mi," I said to nanna. She pulled out the stool beside me and we sat in comfortable silence as we ate our breakfast and watched her favorite tv show golden girls.
After we ate all that we could we packed up the excess food in boxes so that we could pass them out to homeless person's on the street.
It's the bonding experiences like these that I was going to miss doing with her.
Me just love how you a carry on like you nah guh see your granny again my subconscious says.
I went to my room and got my self ready. Straightening my ponytail and applying minimal makeup and lipgloss of course.
Cyah forget that...... No dry lips to the doll my subconscious said.
I giggled to myself and took up my luggage which was my two check in bags and carry on along with my telfar bag that my nanna bout me as a graduation gift. I double checked my hand bag to make sure I had all the necessary credentials before making my way down stairs.
