Only Darkness Lies

Chapter 12

Dawn broke and Elvira found herself in the small cottage she had been staying in while in the village.

She got out of the place to be greeted by the beautiful sunrise. On spotting her, the village women soon gathered around her, praising her for their amazing dance last night.

They went on complimenting Elvira on how beautiful and talented she is, when suddenly Elvira's eyes caught Arson looking at her from a distance.

She smiled at him and Arson couldn't help but smile back at her, thinking of the beautiful moments they shared together last night.

When the women left her, Arson approached her. "You were amazing last night. If you ever want to have a dance companion then ask me right away". He said.
"I would." She giggled. She couldn't look into his eyes because of her shyness.

There was a moment of silence between the two, both of them were nervous to speak to each other when suddenly Arson asked "Would you like to go out with me?"

Elvira couldn't believe her ears. Did she hear him right? Seeing her confused face, Arson repeated his words. Elvira said "Yes, I mean I would love to look around the village." She was trying so hard to suppress her feelings but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't hide her flushed face from Arson.

"So, let's meet this evening" Arson proposed. "Alright" came the short reply.

That evening, Elvira couldn't help but feel nervous, she wasn't meeting Arson for the first time but it was surely the first time that he had asked her out. Actually it was the first time she was going out with someone other than her brother.

She was dwelling in the present, not worrying about the future and was excited to meet Arson.

Elvira hurried out when Arson came to the cottage. She looked beautiful, she always did but that day she looked and felt more beautiful than before. After so much sorrow and pain, it was the day, she could hope to be a little more closer to the person she loves, the only one she has started to have feelings for and who she wishes to protect with her life. Arson is the only person she could think of now, who will love and cherish her forever.

This time, Arson was the one blushing as he held out his hand for Elvira. She held his hand firmly and they went on their awaited date.

Arson took her to a  beautiful bridge. The sight of the setting sun in its red and orange glory painted the sky in shades of blue, red and orange.

"This is my favorite place in the village and I thought it would be the best place to spend time with the best person I know. The one I love." Arson's words touched her heart. The thought that he loved her back made her smile and it was enough for Arson to know that she was enjoying his company. 

She looked in his calm and beautiful eyes and couldn't help but acknowledge the fact that she has never felt that way for anyone before.

Arson leaned closer as he kissed her. It was a beautiful moment, one that she could never forget.When she opened her eyes, she saw him, smiling at her.

"Can we be together?" Arson asked right away in a firm voice, he was ready to have a future with her.

Elvira's mind went blank of this thought, of course she wants to be with him but what about her mission, her revenge?

She thought it was too soon to decide but then, if she tries to just cling to this feelings then it would be hard for her to let them go when she decides about her future.

Even if he agrees to wait for her to decide then will his wait worth it?

But what if after telling Arson about her mission, he insists on coming with her and fights beside her?

Elvira's mind was clouded with such questions, she could not decide on whether to leave Arson behind for her mission, for her brother or stay with him with the assurance of a great future ahead.

She needed time to decide, to think and make the right decisions while keeping her emotions from getting in her way.
Because if she lets her emotions get in the way of her decision making then she knows the outcome will always be the same. It will always be to stay with Arson, to have a future with him.

"We should talk about this later. I need some time to decide." She replied, averting her eyes from him. She wanted to go back because it was hard for her to look at his face after putting down his request like that. Her reply had disappointed Arson but he understood her feelings and agreed to talk to her later about the matter.

Both of them headed back together but neither one of them talked to each other while on their way. Arson dropped her to the cottage and then went home.
