The route that she was following would surely take her to Ilsiome faster but it was also more difficult than the one she had travelled through to reach Tinpole. She wouldn't be able to meet Arson as well.
Aden's murder had surely turned out to be more of a mystery than she had imagined it to be. All because of Shim misleading her. She had to fight so many people and also suffered injuries. On the positive note, she got to meet Arson and fell in love with him.
The journey took her 7 days and her body had almost healed from the injuries.
She was once again startled when she reached Ilsiome. It had changed, in a positive way. It was all repaired from the attack and had certainly developed more than how it used to be earlier. The houses looked anew. Unlike before, many big and lavish houses populated the village.
It was as if the houses of village's common poor people were nowhere to be seen. It was midnight, she rode the horse to her home under the street lights.
Her house had certainly changed too, covered in dust and cobwebs. It looked odd, outside of the now developed part of the village. Her neighbours house looked abandoned as well.
As she stepped inside the dusty building, memories of her late brother flooded her thoughts.
She couldn't sleep inside that house without cleaning it up first so she spent the night sleeping on the grass under the starry sky.
The next morning as soon as she opened her eyes, she hurriedly got ready to go and confront Shim, which called for urgency.
She couldn't care less whether he would see her or not at that time. All she needed was her answers and then take the right action accordingly.
She rode her horse to Mr. Shim's restaurant which was attached to his house. The streets were almost empty with a few people cleaning their shops before opening.
She reached Mr. Shim's house and knocked on the front gate. No one responded.
She knocked a second time, this time a woman opened the gate.
"Is Mr. Shim here?" She asked.
"Oh.. yes. Please wait for him in the living room?"
Elvira followed her along the passage and after seating her guest, she left Elvira on her own.
"He will be here in a few minutes." She had said before leaving. But the few minutes turned out to be half an hour before she was able to meet Shim.
She maintained a calm composure when he entered the room with a cup of tea but deep down, her heart was aching to slam him against the wall. He had murdered her brother and deceived her for all this time but still he had the audacity to act ignorant around her.
She had wasted her 30 minutes waiting for him but was going to make sure that the next few minutes of their meeting worth her wait.
He greeted her with a fake smile.
"You have taken care of the attackers I assume?"
She was not willing to waste her time talking about topics of his interest, so she asked him directly.
"Why did you murder Aden?"The coldness in her voice made Shim tremble. He could feel her hate for him.
"What are you talking about?" He continued to act in ignorance.
As he witnessed the blue light surrounding her, he couldn't help but feel threatened. His secret was no more hidden. In an attempt to flee, he threw the tea on her and rushed towards the door. The tea was not hot enough to cause any major harm to Elvira.
She slammed him on the wall just as she had wanted to. Because of minimising the force, she was able to injure him, without killing him. She locked the door from the inside to prevent anyone from interrupting her interrogation.
"Well..you better answer me quickly." She demanded.
Shim was out of choices, he had no power to protect himself. He confessed at last.
"It was all your father's fault." He shouted. "My father was a rich man and he had provided money for all the experiments done on Owide. But one day Owide escaped from one of the experiments, one which gave him the power you possess now. He killed my father for revenge and was never seen again in this village." He stared at Elvira."I just continued the cycle of revenge by murdering Aden." He said and laughed histerically.
"Continue the cycle? You deserve to be dead for killing my brother who had nothing to do with any of it."Shim screamed in pain as he felt his heart tightening. His wife was helplessly banging down the door.
Elvira wasted no time to reconsider her decision as she killed him, staining the carpet scarlet red.
She opened the door to the wailing lady and left the place after saying to her "I am sorry but he was a murderer."
