Prologue-
I remember it like it was yesterday, the most amazing day of my life. This modeling scout came up to my mom and I as we were walking out of Rue 21 and about to go into Wet Seal.
“Hey! Excuse me miss, but do you mind if I give you this card?” he looked me up and down before placing a white card that was decorated with blue and purple streaks and swirls all over the back. I turned it back to the front and read.
McClellan Modeling Agency.
'When there’s beauty there’s McClellan'
(555)-4589
I looked up from the small little business card and politely smiled at the man. I really wanted to tell him how stupid and cheesy his slogan was.
“I don't think you want to give me this card.” I shook my head and tried to hand the card back to the man I assumed worked at this agency.
“Oh, yes I do we're looking for new younger models and you look like the perfect girl for the job.” I rolled my top and bottom lips inward and then let them go with a popping sound. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
“I could never be a model-” just then my mother interrupted me and looked at the card in my hand.
“Honey that's nonsense!” she turned back to the man. “My name is Joanne and this is my daughter Audrey.” she pointed her hand at me before extending her hand toward the man.
He shook her hand firmly and smiled at her, he had a small dimple in his cheek when he smiled.
“I'm Martin McClellan, but you can call me Marty.” this time he extended his hand toward me and I shook it and gave him my polite smile.
“So Marty, would you like to join us for lunch?” I look to mother shocked.
“But we aren't done shopping I wanted to go in Wet Seal.” I cross my arms and pout temporarily forgetting the man standing there with us.
“I would love to go to lunch with you, but let Audrey go shop first.” my mom gave him a skeptical glance and he just smiled.
“Are you sure?” my mom moves her bags around on her arms as she talks.
“Yeah, it will give us time to discuss business.” again he smiles as if hes flirting with my mom, ewe.
Don't get me wrong my mom looks young and she is pretty but shes married and has two kids.

“Just try it Audrey, you'll love it! I think it's a great deal for you.”
“Mom, I don't know doesn't it seem odd that he scouted me at a mall?” I look back to the restrooms to see if he's coming back yet.
I put my straw in my mouth and move it around with my tongue making the bubbles of the coke pop and fizz.
“Audrey stop playing in your food.” she takes the straw from my mouth and sets it down on the table spilling some coke in the process.
“Thanks for spilling coke on my pants mom, I’m not gonna get the stain out.” I gave her the death glare. Thanks to her my favorite white skinny’s were ruined.
After a few minutes of us arguing back and forth Marty came back.
“So what did you guys decide?”
I took one last look at my mom who was starring daggers into me, then I turned away from her back to Marty.
I ruffled out my long wavy chocolate brown hair and let out a sigh.
“I'll give it a go I guess.” my mom let out a breath and hugged me tight.
“I'm so happy for you Audrey your going to love it!” I smiled and hugged her back.
Once she turned away I mumbled, “I sure hope so...”
They started to talk about my new career and I lost track of it all and starred out the window thinking.
