Chapter Eight-
Slowly But Surely
It was a long, QUIET, awkward car ride over to Blake's house.
Well, let me rephrase that. It was quiet talk wise because someone had the music blasting!
I didn't know what his problem was, and why I felt as if it was kind of my fault. I finally came to the conclusion it was because I skipped class.
I finally got the guts to ask him what was wrong with him.
“Whats wrong?” I asked him with a sigh while turning to look at him. I tried to show him how concerned I was using my eyes.
“Nothing.” he responded flatly taking his key out the ignition and slamming the door.
“Ugh!” I yelled exasperated while pushing my hair out of my face. I opened the door and left my bag in the car slamming the car behind me just like he did.
“Seriously, what's wrong? Why are you acting like this?” I had to run to catch up to him. He still wouldn't turn to me or face me so I pulled his jacket sleeve.
“Stop!” I yelled at him tired of his new found attitude. We where standing just outside the doors of the apartment building. He glared at me and I cringed, if only looks could kill.....
“I stopped now what do you want?” he spat at me. Not actual spit but you get what I’m saying.
“Forget it, just whatever.” I rolled my eyes and my hand at him before storming away from him and over to the information desk.
“Hi, can you please tell me what Blake Massey's apartment number is? I forgot it and he's babysitting my little sister.” I smiled kindly at the lady even though I didn't feel like being kind. Not at all.
I was pissed off, and Mr. Massey was to blame.
“Well there goes his brother right there, you can ask him for the room number.” she told me kindly, oblivious to the fact he was the last person I wanted to talk to. I followed her gaze and saw Mr. Massey walking toward the elevator.
I was glaring at him harshly, before he walked into the elevator he looked at me and he was also glaring at me.
“Yeah, where not exactly talking to each other at the moment.” I told her still fuming mad.
She just chuckled and opened the registry book to give me the floor and room number. I smiled and thanked her before going to the opposite elevator and pressing the up button.
The ride was quiet, and lonely. I just hopped Mr. Massey would be over whatever was wrong with him by tomorrow.
The elevator opened with a ding and I smiled grateful to be out. I walked down the hall till I came to the right door.
I didn't just want to barge in so I knocked three times on the door.
Blake answered and I let out a relieved sigh. He chuckled when he saw me and I smiled.
“Come in, but may I ask why you two didn't come up together?” he asked me as he opened the door wider.
“That's easy, he's being an ass. So where's my sister?” I asked him with a smile he laughed at me when I called his brother an ass and pointed to the living room. I walked into the living room and immediately saw Katie.
When she saw me her eyes lit up and she ran over to me dropping her Barbie dolls. She jumped into my arms and I smiled and hugged her tight.
I missed her so much, and she was one of the only things to make me feel better when I was upset.
