Chapter Six-

Brothers or boyfriends

My phone started to vibrate in my pocket and I fell to the floor scared. I opened my eyes and looked around.

I was downstairs in my living room with the TV on. My phone vibrated again so I grabbed it out of my pocket and looked at the caller ID.

Aiden.

I furrowed my eyebrows confused when I remembered that was Mr. Massey's name. I flipped it open and answered it.

“Hello?” I ask with a yawn, standing up and walking up the stairs to my room.

“Hey, Did I wake you up?” I hear Mr. Massey ask.

“Yeah, you did but its fine, I was on the couch anyway.” I change out of my pants and put on my shorts throwing myself backwards onto my bed and crawling under the comforter.

“Okay, well my brother said he'd do it.”

“How much does he want for watching her?” I close my eyes and think over how much I would charge if I were to watch her for 8 hours.

“Well he told me about 6.50 an hour. Is that okay?” I try to think about how much money I have in my bank account, and remember I went grocery shopping the other day and that I used almost all of my money.

“Do you think he could wait till Sunday to get paid?” I ask him biting my lip.

“I think he'd be able to wait to get paid and if not then I’d have to make him.” I can hear the smile in his voice and I smile turning over on my side.

I open my eyes and see dolly lying next to me.

“AHH! OH MY GOD!” I close my eyes tightly and throw the doll to the floor.

“Audrey, what's the matter?” I hear Mr. Massey ask concerned I ignore him.

“Katie Lee, get over here right now!” my closet door opens and I jump about 10 feet in the air.

“Yes Dree?” she asks me sweetly batting her eyelashes at me.

“Why was your doll in my bed?” I hear Mr. Massey laugh in the background.

“Hush up!” I yell at him and put the phone on mute.

“I told you not to be mean to me.” she says sitting next to me.

“I didn't do anything to you though!” I look at her frustrated.

“Did too.” she tells me pursing her lips.

“Did not.” I counter.

“Did too!”

“Did not!”

“Did too!” she yells standing up.

“Are you honestly arguing while on the phone with me?” Mr. Massey asks me amused.

“I thought I put this thing on mute.” I mutter under my breath confused.

“Actually you put it on speaker.” he tells me and I can picture him smiling.

“Whatever.” I roll my eyes at him. Katie pulls my arm and makes me look at her.

“Who’s on the phone?” she asks me curiously.

“M--” I trail of that sentence realizing I was about to say my teachers name. “Aiden.” I tell her the name feeling weird coming out of my mouth since I was used to calling him Mr. Massey.

“Oh.” she says pausing to stand up. “I'm hungry, so say bye and make me food.” with that she walks out of the room and shuts the door.

I blink after her with my mouth open in shock.
