In the city of Catalonia, we get a look at a koala named Buster Moon at his beloved theater with his trusty assistant, Ms. Crawley. But eventually he would be threatened with foreclosure by bank representative, Judith. He then heads out on his bike to meet a friend. We then get a look at 6 other animals, a gorilla named Johnny, who is a part of his father's criminal gang but in other ways wants to be a singer instead. Next is a pig named Rosita, a mother of 25 piglets, who gave up her teenage music dreams to become a devoted housewife. Next is a porcupine named Ash, a teenage porcupine punk-rocker, who takes part in an alternative rock-duo with her boyfriend, Lance. Next is an elephant named Meena, who has an exquisite voice and severe stage fright, who lives with her mother and grandparents. Next is Mike, a white mouse street singer with a big Frank Sinatra-esque voice and a VERY arrogant attitude. Finally, we have Chris, a teenage arctic wolf, who dreams of becoming a singer like his late mother, Queen, who died in a car accident 2 weeks prior. He's also been going through anxiety and deep depression after she died which has been a roadblock. But nonetheless, he promised to continue his mother's legacy and build his. Even though he's a wolf, he has a sweet personality. Meanwhile, Buster arrives at a fancy restaurant, where he meets his best friend, Eddie. "So Eddie, I have been thinking of something that could blow the audience away." said Buster. "With what?" said Eddie. "A singing competition!" said Buster. "Singing competition? Who wants to see another one of those?" asked Eddie. "Think about it! Everyone in town gets a shot of being a star live on my stage!" said Buster. "Buster, that's a crazy idea." said Eddie. "Just you watch Eddie. I'll give the people a fine show!" said Buster. He then returns to his theater and plans to hold the competition where the winner will win $1,000, but a typo was made by Ms. Crawley and adds two zeros to the prize money. The misprinted flyers are blown out before they could be proofread and scatter across the city, where Johnny, Ash, Mike, Meena and Rosita receive them. Chris was outside sitting on the porch singing his music. As he was singing, he saw fliers flying in the sky. He grabs one and reads the flier. He gasped and rushed to his father, Malcolm. "Dad! Dad! Check this out!" said Chris. He gasped. "Chris, son. This could be your chance to do the one thing you love...sing. Your mother would want you to do the same thing." said Malcolm. Chris took a deep breath and nodded. So for a day before the event, Chris spent all night in his room making a song for his tryouts. He practiced his vocals and the tunes with his guitar and music booth. At 2 in the morning, Chris fell asleep and his father checked on him. He smiled as he covered him with a blanket. "You can do it, Chris." he said before he left the room. The next morning, Chris woke up. He stretched and let out a loud yawn as he got up and hops in the shower. After he got out, he looked at the flier and then looked in the mirror, where his mom's photo hangs. "This is for you, Mom. I'll make you proud." said Chris as he got dressed. He grabbed his skateboard and dashed to the Theater, right before he grabbed himself breakfast from a nearby restaurant on the way. "Hi, can I have some Munchkins and a medium sized Sprite?" asked Chris. "Sure. $10.00." said the clerk as Chris paid for his breakfast. As soon as he left, he scarfed down his food and drank his drink. He then lets out a burp. "Oh, excuse me." said Chris as he chuckled. He then continues his way to the Theater and finally he sees it. "Alright, let's do this." said Chris. He pulled out a necklace that belonged to his mother. "You can do this, Chris. You can do this." said Chris to himself and entered the Theater. He then sees the line of animals not too long. As he waited for the line to die down a little bit. An hour later after what had felt like 3 hours, Chris was finally next to perform. Before he went, the contestant before him, he looked at his necklace medallion. Inside, it had a picture of his mom, dad and him, when he was a baby. He then closed his eyes. "Follow your heart, Chris. Do the one thing you love to do in this world. Let nothing keep you down. This is your world. Never give up. Always have hope. I love you." said Queen in his memory. Chris opened his eyes. "Finally, we have...Chris!" called out Ms. Crawley. Chris then nervously walks out and takes a deep breath. "You got this, Chris. Let nothing keep you down." said himself as he pulled out his guitar.
