It has been two weeks without seeing Prince Taehyung but it really feels like an eternity considering the fact that I know he wouldn't come here anymore."why there is no moon today?" I was staring at the empty sky through my window and kept blabbering
I really miss him so much.
"Lady Hui" Yuri came in rushing towards me
"Hmm?" I hummed in response as she sat next to me holding some fresh Jeotgugji
"Ah the smell" I grinned at her inhaling the smell of salted fish
"Your father is meeting with a messenger from the main kingdom who turns out to be his old friend. Since it's been 12 years since they last saw, your father has ordered to cook 12 side dishes"
"Really?" I chuckled at how exaggerated that fact is but yes in ancient times rich people like to show their sincerity through food and goods
"Where is brother Jung?" I asked Yuri as I started digging in
"I asked him to sneak in some janggwa" she said winking at me which made me chuckle more
"What" I asked her with a laugh when she looked at me with an adoring face
"I'm so glad that you finally accepted General Jung as your brother" she said with a wide smile as mine started to fade in and out
"Lady hui"
"Yes?"
"I wish you are always happy like now. I can't afford to see a sad Lady Hui again" she ended but I couldn't understand it clearly. And for some reasons my heart felt heavy.
When time comes for me to leave... will I be able to leave them behind?
"Then promise to make me smile always"
"I promise my Lady"

"Ahhummm this is the best seafood I've ever had" I groaned in satisfaction
"I'm glad you like it" brother Jung grinned at me
"By the way what's this messenger thing?"
"Ah Lady Hui I forgot to tell you. We're celebrating Our majesty's 60th birthday in two months from today" Yuri said still chewing the shrimp
"The King's...birthday?"
"Ah right. Even I forgot about that" brother Jung spoke looking at me "It is a tradition that every year on the King's day our Majesty will give the day off for everyone and celebrate with his people"
"Oh?"
"That's not the same this year" Yrui continued placing the empty bowls aside
"This year... our Majesty is willing to fulfil any wishes from his people" brother Jung said
"Wah that's nice of our king"
"But it's not that easy" Yuri said gulping
"Our majesty is willing to fulfil anyone's wish as long as they manage to survive three days in the woods" brother Jung continued
"In..the w-woods?"
"That's right this year all the rituals and festivals are celebrated really big because it is the last year as a king for our majesty" She spoke
"LAST YEAR?"
"Our highness Prince Kim Taehyung will be crowned as our majesty next year on the King's birthday" brother added
Suddenly I recalled the stories my grandpa said. If the stories my grandpa said are true—
"—shit no"
"-yes?"
"-yes?""Why? Is the King sick?" I asked trying to get the truth
"Don't say that" Yuri closed her mouth with her hand "It's nothing like that Lady Hui"
"Please don't say anything like that about our majesty to someone else" Brother said concernedly and Yuri chuckled nodding
"Okay but why?" I asked just wanting to know why
If my guess is right the King's excuse is that he wants to see Prince Taehyung on the throne when he's still good so that he'd teach him how to be a king. But I hope that's not it.
"Our majesty wants to train our prince Taehyung while he's still in good health" Yuri said and with that my jaw dropped.
Fuck... that's no good—
—that means.. all the stories my grandpa said were not really stories but the history?
If that's what it is then once the King appoints Prince Taehyung as the King, a war will break out. And thousands will die along with... along with Prince Taehyung.
I gasped covering my mouth.
I can't change the history, can I?
