"I wonder how should I give this to him" i spoke looking at the beautiful mug not daring to even touch it afraid of breaking it
"Why didn't you give it to Prince Taehyung Lady Hui?" Yuri asked as she folded my clothes
"I'm not sure if he would like— WHAT?"
"I know you went out with him last week" she spoke laughing
"You know?"
"Even General Jung knows" she laughed more "actually he saw Prince Taehyung coming and chased the other soldiers away"
"Gosh what" I laughed sheepishly
"You should have given it to him" she nagged as always "he would definitely love it"
"Do you think so?" I asked smiling
It has been five days since me and Prince Taehyung went to the Samguksan Mountain and I can't help but think about him literally 24/7
"Prince Taehyung might come tomorrow" she smiled "you must give it to him"
Prince Taehyung... is coming tomorrow?
A spark of happiness immediately rushed through my blood making me smile like a fool
"Aish I just said he would come whats with a big smile like that?" Yuri said chuckling "what does it feel like to fall in love for the first time lady Hui?"
"The feeling of falling in love for the first time?"
"Yes"
"It is a like a... rabbit trapped inside your chest.. it is like...waves under the calm water and like the smell of first rain"
But it also feels like walking on a thin rope 200 feet above the ground. Because fear accomplishes love, the fear of losing your loved ones.
"Hearing you say these makes me want to feel that special feeling too" Yuri grinned
"Haven't you already felt that?" I asked her chuckling
"Ayeee what do you mean Lady Hui" she asked almost in the tone of nagging
"I heard you that day"
"Yes?"
Flashback:
"No matter what we do... the sky and the land can never touch each other" I heard Yuri speak
"But even the sky and the land meets at the end of the sea—"
"Where no one can go" she cut him as a tear slipped down "we can never be together at least not in this life"
He slowly held her hands and took it to his chest
"This heartbeat will forever belong to you" he said as he kissed her palm as if it's the world's end
Yuri buried herself in his broad chest as his hands curled up around her waist
"I..I'm sorry"
End of flshback.
"General Jung" i spoke as Yuri's eyes immediately welled up "what's going on Yuri?"
"Lady Hui..i.." she spoke looking down as her tears dropped one by one "it's nothing" she said forcing a smile
I held her hand tightly "you know you can tell me anything right?"
"Lady hui... i.. General Jung and I.. we- it's nothing.."
I held her crumbling face and made her look at me "it's really fine Yuri-ah"
"I..love General Jung" she suddenly broke into tears as she fell weakly on my shoulder
Flashback few years ago:
"Yuri-ah listen to me" Jung held her hand tightly when she tried to leave
"I don't want to" Yuri said with welled up eyes
He gently let her go and cupped her face as a tear slipped their eyes "I want to tell you how I feel when I'm with you"
"Don't" she spoke clear and cut with a hitch in her voice afraid of something "just why do you like a maid like me?" She cried
"Even if every star in the sky was a reason.. I would run out of all of them. All I could do is show you my heart and hope you would understand.. life with you is better than living without you"
Her mouth might have said no but her eyes spoke the other wise. She wanted him.. all for her
"You already have a bride" She spoke looking down "and you are meant to be together"
"I don't want to" he yelled slamming her gently in the tree behind "Just because my mother wanted me marry her sister's daughter doesn't mean I should" he looked at her as if his whole world was ending "do you even understand that I like you?"
"I like you too" she spoke as tears started their way down "but it's your mother's last wish and you should fulfil it.. at least to thank your mother for dying on behalf of you" I'm sorry.. she cried inside
He let her go and started taking steps backwards slowly "j..just why..?" Suddenly he turned his back and disappeared in the dark as she was left alone crying on the cold ground
End of flashback.
"When General Jung's mother was delivering him... she made a will that her son should marry her sister's daughter when he's 30" Yuri spoke with tears falling down her face
"He must still like you.."
She smiled nodding as an other tear slipped "I still like him too.. after that happened years back he never talked about that incident between us but...in less than three months he's gonna turn 30 maybe that's why he brought that up again.."
"Yuri-ah.. are you okay?" I asked her not finding the right words to even comfort her
"Lady hui... i.. it's really nothing..it's just.. it's just... we're mere humans who long for something beyond our limit" she spoke with her tear filled eyes as she forced a smile
"But maybe sometime dreaming beyond our limit is good" I said hugging her
"Yes... maybe in next life.. i.. I hope to fall into his world and never leave.."
