(A/N) ONE THOUSAND VIEWS MY FRIENDS. ONE. THOUSAND. THANK YOU ALL. GOODNIGHTAMURICAWELUVYOOOOUUUUU

I'm taken aback by his interruption. "No...?"

He nods. "You should be out there helping your clanmates, not focusing on the rest of us. I can keep us safe."

I scoff. "Nicholas, are you crazy? You haven't been handling weapons for more than a couple weeks. I can't leave you behind with so little experience. If it were any other war, I'd be more relaxed, but this is Scarletstar. She's out for you all in particular."

"She's out for you too," he points out. "It's better if you're on the battlefield in a huge crowd where it's harder for her to find you, not in an empty hall where you're an easy target."

I can't say he's wrong. It's exactly how any other clan member would handle it. I just can't imagine leaving them unprotected, though...

"Skye, don't worry about us. Promise me you'll leave us and fight with your clan," he continues, then his voice becomes even more stern. "Promise me."

I sigh. Nicholas is too stubborn to give in. I can't change his mind now, but maybe later he'll see reason.

"Fine," I say. "I promise."

It's been a week since I made that stupid promise to Nicholas. He actually accepted it, just like that! He knows I'm more determined to get my way, so why'd he let it go so easily?

He spoke so strangely, too...

Usually Nicholas speaks firmly in serious matters; like he's sure of himself. However, this time his voice was slightly strained, as though it pained him to tell me to leave them behind. He didn't sound like he truly felt that I should go.

I'll worry about it later, I guess. Right now I have to train a few dozen warriors to work together in the shadows as our stealth team. Although, some of these belong in whatever team is attacking with brute force, if you ask me. I bet they couldn't silence their steps on carpet while wearing socks. Someone shoot me now, before I have to remind myself how bad of a teacher I am.

"Hey, Silentshadow!" someone calls. I turn around and it's Sparrowheart. I'll be seeing more of him, not only to spend more time with him, but to train newer warriors together as well.

Some boys can't handle a teenage girl helping them adjust their stance. If they find it too awkward for me to touch them, then why'd they sign up to train for such a precise skill anyway?

"Yes, most powerful and skilled one?" I reply sarcastically.

Sparrowheart looks down as he half laughs and half scoffs, an odd but funny combination. "Haha, you're hilarious. I was going to ask you if you wanted to come hang out with me and some friends after training. But if I'm too incredible to have even offered such an invitation to someone so unworthy as yourself..."

I respond by throwing a dagger dangerously close to his head, making it stick in the wall right behind him; intentionally, of course. I don't throw knives recklessly all the time.

"I accept your invitation. But if these friends are as full of themselves as you are, you will find the nearest book imbedded in your skull. I'm not taking annoyances lightly today." I give him a smirk, pull the dagger out of the wall, and walk away, twirling it in my fingers.

"Are you always this dangerous when you're cranky?" Sparrowheart calls after me.

"No," I answer. "Sometimes I just slap whoever bothers me."

Now that that's out of the way, I need to get to the training rooms where Sparrowheart will most likely avoid me with the fear of facing the wrath of my bad mood.
