(A/N) WOO I'm back! A day before I expected, too. The stress of school is finally gone and I am stuck inside with a healing foot. The main struggle is staying awake right now...
I'm glad to be back to working on Remember Me. I have it planned up to the climax of the story, so it should be easier to update from here. And before I forget again, I found the picture above to give you an idea of what Scarletstar looks like. Just imagine her creepy smiles and giggles, and her voice reaching into your mind and the depths of your soul...
Well enjoy the story! XD

"W-war?" Nicholas can barely say. I, on the other hand, am speechless. Sure, we've been fighting Scarletstar for years now; it's surprising we hadn't declared war earlier. SoulsClan hasn't been in an actual war in ten years, though. We've had so many new members, including me, and some who haven't even seen a battle before. And my friends... They shouldn't have to go through that. They didn't sign up for war.

"Yes, war," Pearlstar confirms. "Something should've been done about Scarletstar long before now, but she's nearing her last three lives. Might as well get this all over with."

I sigh. She has a point. "What about-"

"Your friends will be staying here under decent protection. Nicholas can fight, correct?" Pearlstar asks.

"Yes, but-"

She holds her hand up to stop me again. "Then it's settled. Now it's only a question of when to declare war."

Pacing the room, she begins to plan, the three other warriors with her taking note of every word. "We'll need a good week to establish alliances with at least three other clans to make up for BurningClan's larger forces, but it shouldn't be too hard. Plenty of clans are against Scarletstar. Then we need to train the newer members, that should take two weeks and will be in progress as the alliances are made. We also need to set aside a dozen warriors to care for the children who aren't yet old enough to fight..."

Pearlstar turns and looks at Nicholas. "And then there's you. You need time to heal before we go, so you can fight for yourself if needed. Mintbreeze, how long will it be before he's back in fighting condition?"

Mintbreeze is still fuming from Pearlstar's barging in. Her words are strained and clipped, like she's barely keeping herself from screaming. I feel like she can tell how worried I am about leaving Nicholas alone in battle, because she looks at me and smiles a little. "I would give him three weeks. A month if possible."

Now it's Pearlstar's turn to be frustrated. "A month? We don't have a month!"

Mintbreeze grins smugly at the clan leader. "If he is to be at his best, I recommend a month."

Pearlstar, about to lose her composure entirely, lets out a quiet strangled noise and submits. "Fine. A month, but no more! The sooner Scarletstar's dealt with, the sooner we can all sleep in peace."

With a spin of her cloak, she turns and walks out of the room, deputy and warriors at her heels. When the door closes, I look to Mintbreeze and thank her.

"Pearlstar can be too impatient for her own good sometimes. I hope a month is long enough, though," Mintbreeze furrows her eyebrows. "He needed a lot of stitches." Then she leaves, lost in thought.

Nicholas and I sit in silence until it seems he can't take it.

He laughs briefly, almost sarcastically. "A month. We have one month of hell to go through before they send you off to some battlefield where you put your life on the line while the rest of us are expected to sit and wait, worrying about whether or not you'll come back at the end of the day."

I have no response. He'll accept no comforting reply, and I can't deny there's a chance I'll be killed. It's something I've come to accept. However, I do know one thing- If I die, I'm taking Scarletstar with me.
