After the hug-fest, we head back to the base and into Pearlstar's office. Inside, we inform each other on what happened during the battle for the fighters and for those who were evacuated. When I told them about Lisa, everyone went quiet. A lump formed in my throat and I couldn't bring myself to break the silence. Luckily, Delia was able to do so before the situation got worse.

"Well... While we were stuck in the gym, Jonathan got beat up a lot for flirting with the majority of the girls in our grade," Delia says slowly. "I guess it wasn't as eventful as your day, but it was definitely different for us..."

Nicholas laughs a little, obviously remembering what Delia is talking about. I imagine such a thing happening and laugh, too. Soon everyone else does the same, even though they have no idea who we're talking about.

Scarletstar was the only one not laughing. Dawnflame turns to her and asks, "What's up?"

The former leader shakes her head. "Nothing really, just thinking about what I'm going to do next."

"She's right," Pearlstar says. "She isn't a leader anymore. First thing we should do here is ask, what was your name before becoming leader?"

"Scarletbreeze," she responds.

"That's a pretty nice name," Blueflight says.

Scarletbreeze smiles at her. "Thank you."

"Well now you have to decide where to go," Pearlstar cuts in. "I assume you'll join a clan, so all you need to do is decide which one."

"Actually," the shy girl says, "I was kind of hoping I could join SoulsClan. I know I could never make up for what I did, but I want to show my thanks for sparing me by working for you all."

We shake ourselves out of our surprise at her decision. "If that's what you choose, you can join us. Just know that not everyone will accept you very quickly," Pearlstar tells her.

Scarletbreeze nods. "I understand. Thank you!"

Pearlstar tells us we can leave while she gets Scarletbreeze's living arrangements sorted out. I follow everyone out the door, wondering what will happen now. I can only assume that she'll want to fight on the stealth team, and being at the top of that rank means I'll be in charge of testing and training her. We'll be associating with each other very often. Hopefully it all goes well, and I don't do anything stupid to trash any chances of us getting along. I can see in her eyes that she wants to become our friend, so I'll do my best to make that happen. Not only for the both of our sakes, but for the entire clan. As a higher-up, if people see me accepting her, they'll most likely follow suit; same goes if I don't show that I accept her.

"Earth to Skye," Nicholas says, waving his hand in front of my face.

"Huh?"

He laughs. "You've been completely out of it the entire walk here. We're at your place. Dustfire invited all of us over to watch a movie while we wait for answers from Pearlstar."

"Oh okay," I answer and go inside with the others.

"The Maze Runner!" Blueflight shouts.

"We've watched that a bazillion times!" Sparrowheart says, trying to yank the DVD case out of her hands. "Let's watch Mockingjay!"

The two of them are standing on the long couch, fighting over the movie choice. The rest of our group are sitting around them, looking highly annoyed.

"Maze Runner!"

"Mockingjay!"

"But Thomas-"

"You can fangirl over Dylan O'Brien in your own time!"
