(A/N): Wow... Chapter TWENTY. This is huge for me. To be honest, I didn't think I'd get far past chapter fifteen. I started getting stuck and thought it wasn't getting anywhere, BUT HERE I AM. I'm really glad to have gotten to this point and even happier that people actually read my work. Thanks, everyone!

I wake up lying down with my head on something soft, and I notice immediately that this wasn't how I fell asleep. I sit up quickly and look around, but he's gone. On the ground is his jacket, bundled up into a makeshift pillow. Next to it is a note.

Sorry for leaving without waking you up, but training was going to start. Take a break today, alright? I'll take over training for you. -Sparrow

The note was almost illegible, like he was in a rush. Then again, his handwriting is always messy. Wait. Take over training for me? Listening carefully, off in the distance, I can barely make out the sound of people talking.

The nerve he has to keep me from training! "In your dreams, Sparrow!" I shout, running to the center of the training area. However, when I reach the edge of the clearing, I realize one very important detail. I'm still in my pajamas. There's no way I'm walking out there in front of our students in my sleepwear.

I'm not going to just stand here and wait; I might as well make something of it by, say, seeing how Scarletbreeze is doing. It doesn't take long for me to spot her, for most of the other clan members are keeping their distance. Most of the votes against her must have come from the stealth team. This is the worst unit the votes could have come from. The strength team relies on their own power to get through battle, and the strategy team stays out of the fight altogether. Each member of the medical team gets their own station to work at on the field, and the communication team members work on their own at the base. The stealth team, however, uses more agility than power and relies on the combined strength of its members to take out an enemy. If people aren't willing to work with a member of the unit, the system falls apart.

By the table near the entrance to the training area stands Sparrowheart, who raises a hand to release the trainees into whatever exercise he had arranged for the day. As soon as they're all in the woods, I sneak to the edge of the woods closest to the door, behind Sparrow. I'm five feet from the door when he speaks.

"You've lost your touch, Shadow."

I'm surprised enough to lose my footing and fall over. Great, as though standing here in pajamas isn't embarrassing enough. "So? And it's not my fault I have to sneak around. You should've gotten me up."

"I couldn't," he answers with a shrug. "You looked so peaceful."

Peaceful? "With everything that's gone on lately, that's highly unlikely."

"Well you were, and I wasn't going to disturb you to train some newbies. I could handle it on my own."

I look at him, puzzled. "Could have?"

He smirks at me. "Well now that you're up, you aren't going to let that happen, are you?"

"Now you're getting it," I reply, turning the doorknob to go back to my room.

"Wait," Sparrowheart says. "Where are you going?"

I gesture to my current attire. "To get changed."

He stares at me blankly before grinning in the dorkiest way possible and pointing in the direction I came from. "You know I left clothes for you back there, right?"

My smile is wiped off my face when I take in this new information. "There... were clothes... All along?"

"Yep."

"I ran all the way here and snuck around the trainees... For nothing?"

"Pretty much."

I glare at Sparrow. "Fine. I'll go back then."

"I'll go with you," he says, and I look back at him wide-eyed, making a helpless sort of "why" gesture.

He laughs like the cocky idiot he is. "Not like that, stupid. I've got to follow some of the trainees, and they're probably in that general area."

"Alright, but direct them elsewhere if they get close to me," I say.

He nods and walks into the woods, looking back occasionally; it's probably to make sure I'm still following.

About five minutes pass in silence before he raises a hand, signalling for me to stop. He continues forward while I stay in place. I can hear him talking to a trainee who must not have hidden well enough. When Sparrow gets back, we continue walking until we reach the clearing.

Unwrapping his jacket, he says, "I left them in here so they wouldn't get messed up in the dirt."

He hands me the clothes and I mutter a thanks, then shoo him away so I can change. Sparrow obliges, settling on a rock at the edge of the space.

After I'm dressed, I open my mouth to call Sparrow when a head of short brown hair in the bushes past him catches my attention. The person turns his head just far enough that I can see half of his face, and I gasp. "Nicholas?"

(A/N): *looks down in shame* Only about 800 words...
Sorry for the short chapter, but I'm struggling to keep going with this. I need to figure out where to leave the story off...
Oh well, I'll keep thinking. Until next time!
