Everyone had a first love that they would never forget and Lady Karissa was no different.

Before Lady Karissa Elizabeth Ann Howard nee Lowell arrived on Star Base 12 in May of 2274, she lived an ordinary life on Post World War Three Planet Earth.

Even 102 years after the end of World War Three had changed very much and despite the many new treatments to treat radiation sickness.

Not even all the new treatments would work on everyone that was affected by long term side effects of radiation sickness.

Three years after World War Three, Colonel Philip Green showed up in 2156 and he wanted to eliminate all the people that might have been affected by the radiation sickness and if they had any children it would pass onto their children.

Colonel Philip Green was received with mixed reviews and he was seen as a second Adolph Hitler that tried to exterminate millions of people that didn't fit into his master plan, but of course it failed.

So did Colonel Philip Green's master plan and while he was living in the mountains of Montana, Flint The Immortal did the world a huge favor and he launched the Ebola Virus down on where he was living and he was killed instantly.

However, no one really knows the long term side effects of radiation sickness and despite the new therapies it didn't work on everyone and some of those were in Karissa's family.

One by one she watched her mother die, her sisters, brothers, father and finally her beloved fiance, Roy L Mock died of it too.

Lady Karissa was 15 years old when she lost her family and fiance and for a short period of time she lived with uncaring relatives, but with the rationing of food.

They could no longer take care of her and they signed her up for the United Federation of Planets Relocation Program and on May 1, 2270, approximately 117 years later on the very day that World War III started she boarded the USS Republic along with 499 other young war orphans that had lost their families due to radiation sickness.
