the body
10th november 1983.
Dallas takes her books out of her bag and shoves them hazardly into her locker, groaning when some fall out, she picks them up going to shove them back in but her gaze lands on her English book.
Honestly, she wasn't even going to turn up later, her excuse of Dustin not wanting to be alone at this time with his friend missing was bullshit, she's not even at her mother's house today anyway.
Tapping her fingers against the door of her locker she chews her lip before grabbing the books she needs, History and Chemistry, before shoving them into her bag.
She glances at the inside of her locker, the photo of her young self and uncle Jim catching her eyes amongst the other photos taped to the door, some with stickers to hold them in place.
She traces her finger over the photo, she's sitting with him on a park bench, she's probably about thirteen or fourteen, dressed in an oversized Star Wars shirt and a pair of shorts.
Jim's in a flannel shirt and jeans, his smile doesn't quite reach his eyes, not like it used to, not after his daughter died.
She slams the locker door shut, jumping back with a hand on her chest, "Jesus, Byers, you scared the shit out of me."
He looks at his shoes, scuffing them along the floor, "Sorry, I just- wanted to say thanks."
He nods towards the poster on the outside of her locker door and she nods her head once in return, "Any news?"
He shakes his head leaning back against the lockers beside her's, "Have you heard anything?"
"I, uh," She chuckles, a little awkward forced laugh she does to fill the tense air, shaking her head, hand gripping her bag strap once more, "Not exactly talking to Hopper right now, so... sorry."
He nods again, opening his mouth but a call of the girl's name from down the corridor has both of their attention changing direction, "Miss Hopper, a word?"
She sighs watching the teacher disappear into her classroom, "Good luck finding your brother, Byers."
"Thanks."
Dallas adjusts the jacket from being around her waist to hold it in her hands and walks into the classroom of her English teacher to see her sitting on her desk waiting.
"Hey, Mrs Wilson."
"Any progress with Mr Harringotn yet?"
"Well, he's still an asshole-" She starts, perching herself on the edge of a desk.
Mrs Wilson sighs and simply looks up with a deadpan look, Dallas sighs shaking her head no, "I haven't had the chance to yet, uh, we're supposed to be meeting today, I've got a day off work, so..."
