"Demo-dogs?" Dallas hears Max question as she walks back inside, Mac happily runs over to Steve, the latter leaning down to pat her head as he keeps staring into space, stuck in his thoughts.
"Demogorgon dogs." Dustin says in his usual 'duh' tone, "Demo-dogs. It's like a compound, it's like a play on words-"
"Like a Hizard."
"Stop calling them that."
"It makes more sense, they are horse like lizards."
"They're demogorgons. I'm not starting this with you again-" He shakes his head looking back to his friends as she leans against the counter opposite Steve, "When there was just dart maybe we could've taken them-"
"But there's an army now."
"Precisely." Dustin nods to Lucas.
Mike looks at the floor as he mumbles, "His army."
Steve finally looks up, seemingly snapped from his daydreams, "What do you mean?"
"His army," Mike repeats, Dallas and Max look at each other over his head, brows furrowed as they shrug at each other, "Maybe if we stop him, we can stop his army, too."
"Who's he?"
Mike walks towards Will's room, the group following after him, he grabs a drawing from Will's desk and shows it to them, "The shadow monster."
Dallas repeats her brother's words, looking up at Steve who stands behind her and shrugs, "It got Will that day on the field. The doctor said it was like a virus, it infected him."
"And so this virus, is it connecting him to the tunnels?"
"To the tunnels, monsters, the Upside Down, everything."
"Whoa. Slow down. Slow down." Steve demands as he looks between the kids and Dallas, "Okay, so, the shadow monster's inside everything."
"I-Inside?" Dallas questions hesitantly, afraid she will once again be met with bullying from the kids at her lack of knowledge, like that time she questioned what a Warlock was and for three months afterwards they teased her about it.
Mike nods, "Yeah. And if the vines feel something like pain, then so does Will."
"And so does Dart."
"Like a hivemind?"
Dustin nods patting her on the back, "The day has come, you're not so stupid after all."
Steve reaches around Dallas and slaps her brother on the back of the head, "What's a hive mind?"
"A collective consciousness. It's a super-organism." Dustin says.
Steve stares at him blankly making Dallas lean up a little, "It's like, they're all connected and make decisions together, they all kind of... Control each other, I guess."
