the sauna test
july 2nd 1985.
By the time Dallas finishes most of the stores are closed, she was on lock up duty again for Ray to have his second date with Mrs Wilson. The last customer didn't leave until five minutes after closing time, most shop owners were already locked up by then, and the missing records from a few days ago finally came in meaning she had to stay behind not only to clean since it was cleaning day, but also to take out the new stock.
She changes into some jeans so she will be a little warmer than in the skirt and then follows Dustin's instructions-demands- to meet them on the roof.
They ended up recruiting Erica Sinclair to fit through the air ducts, and when Dallas had tried to reason with them, her brother had run off once more.
"It's all quiet here, so you've got the green light."
"Any thing happened yet?"
The three scream turning quickly and she raises a brow at them as Dustin clutches his chest, "Jesus, Hopper."
"A warning, Dallas, you almost killed us."
She rolls her eyes crouching beside her brother and looks down at the elevator.
"Green light, copy that. Commence Operation Child Endangerment."
"Can we maybe not call it that?"
"See you on the other side, nerds."
It's around ten minutes when they finally hear from Erica again, "Alright, nerds, I'm there."
"Do you see anything?"
"Yeh, I see those boring boxes you're so excited about."
"Any guards?"
"Negative."
"Booby traps?"
"If I could see them, they'd be pretty shit traps wouldn't they?"
"Thank you, for that." Robin says slowly.
"I'm in."
Steve goans rubbing his hands over his face as he glances up at the stars above them, "God."
The door slides open, Erica standing there, helmet on, hands on her hips as she stares up at them, "Free ice cream for life." She says loudly for them all to hear.
"Come on, let's go."
Steve stands first, helping Dustin to his feet and guiding Dallas towards the stairwell with a hand behind her back as they all head outside.
They meet Erica by the doors and Steve reaches into his pocket taking out the pocket knife, he flips it open and heads for a box, "No this one."
Dallas taps a different box and he pauses, "Why?"
