The dumbass trio was ready to kill- I mean ambush Trey in the library. The book titles they were reading were unconventional from 'Steps to rebuild a haunted house: 101' to 'How to put beasts to sleep; a helpful trilogy' and the all-time favourite "Ghosts in my living room!?," all of them standing on the table by the spine and Ace, Deuce, Grim and [Name] behind them. Trying to remain as inconspicuous as possible in this quiet library setting, they mocked engagement in their book, peeping behind the book every so often to scan the room for that traitor named Trey Clover.

Ace had to do a double-take, [Name] was actually reading her book and he gave her a shove with her elbow. She pouted at him.

"I was enjoying that."

"Don't care nerd, we've got bigger things to worry about."

"Guys, look!" Grim cried before [Name] could abuse Ace with her slick vocabulary skills. "There he is!"

As Grim said, Trey had meandered into the library entrance and, shock horror, was striding towards the bakery section. [Name] winced, he looked tired. Really tired. His posture was slumping slightly and he wouldn't stop rubbing his face with his hand under his glasses, as if easing an aching jaw but for nought as the pain ran deeper.

"Clover." Deuce confronted instantly, voice quiet. Everyone surrounded the third year so he would have no exits. "We figured you'd come to the library to return the cookbook for the mont blanc and camped out here."

"It's you guys..." Trey leaned back against the shelves, crossing his arms at the feisty freshmen. He would have laughed if it wasn't for the thick tension in the air. They all looked so serious. Too serious, even. They were much more assertive than he was when he was a gangly first year. But this was no laughing matter.

"We really can't agree with the way Riddle is doing things." Ace was straight to the point hands on his hip and a gloved finger jutting in Trey's face.

"...I bet." Trey sighed, pressing a palm to his temple and lacing his hand through his locks. Face furrowed.

"What do you really think about him? Since you were kids have you always been so subservient to him?" Ace interrogated.

"Who did you hear that from?" Trey furrowed his brow, nose scrunching up.

"From a guy named Che'nya."

"Che'nya... Ah, that guy." Trey's face was still scrunched up and his eyes drifted as he remembered the catboy, almost sensing the leering Cheshire cat smile behind him. He shivered. He probably was, hiding in the bookshelf like some nosy weirdo.

"Aren't you also older than Riddle? Just get angry at him!" Grim said, throwing down his paws.

"I'd do it if I felt it necessary. But... I can't bring myself to scold him." Trey confessed, feeling the sadness roll in his stomach as his face softened.

"Why!?" Ace grilled.

"Everything Riddle is was "made" by following strict rules." The raised brows were enough to spark intrigue and Trey sighed another time that day. He elaborated further on his point., rubbing his wrists anxiously. "In his homeland, there isn't a single person who hasn't heard of his parents, as Healers they're that famous. His mother is especially exceptional and she wanted Riddle to be exceptional as well. So from dawn till dusk, his every move was decided for him, down to the smallest thing, as part of his study program."

"Down... to the smallest thing?" Grim's forked tail stood upright and quivered from top to bottom as he shrunk in [Name's] ankles.

Trey nodded and continued. "From what he ate, what he wore, what he consumed, to his friends, everything was decided for him. Nevertheless, Riddle never said a word and strived to meet those expectations and completed his unique magic at age 10. On top of that, he has maintained his spot at the top since elementary school. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must have been."
