The faceless monster was livid at the sight of Deuce's return, arching back his heavy ink-filled limb and slamming it against Deuce in the stomach, launching him across the room and crudely into a round stone pillar.

"Guuuuh!" Deuce choked out a grunt at the impact and grasped his stomach like he had been smacked with a sledgehammer. He struggled to breathe but bigger things preoccupied him.

The faceless thing began to limp towards him. He tried to move, to scramble away, but the pain was too immense and instead, he slumped against the pillar.

He clenched his eyes, waiting for the next attack, his mind swamped with regrets of his life, what he should have done and what he could have done... The blow was going to knock him into heaven's doors... But it never came. Instead, he heard a familiar cocky voice from behind the monster.

"Stand back if you have no control, Mr Serious!" It was Ace and he was laughing at Deuce. "I'll stop it! Haaa!"

With a flare of his wrist holding his magical pen, he barraged an extremely intense gale of wind in the Faceless Monster. One that should have sent him flying but the monster was heavy. It dragged its feet on the ground and moved barely. Deuce watched with an apprehension aching his neck and jaw as the Faceless monster roared and smacked Ace away, sending him rolling a few times across the dirt.

"Guuhaaaah!!" Ace grunted, but he floundered back to his feet, thankfully only the damage done was a shallow scratch on his cheek that wouldn't scar.
"Ffgnaaa!! Stay away!!" Grim jumped in now. Spewing the most blue fire from his little gullet Deuce had ever seen come from him. It seemed to be doing something, the faceless monster was growling and bracing himself against the blue blaze with the back of his forearms and stumbling slightly back.
Deuce was so enraptured with Grim's powerful display, he visibly jumped and recalled when a hand landed on his shoulder.

"Hey! Deuce relax, it's me!" He softened at the sight of [Name], not entirely at ease in their situation but assured in her presence. She had a pink sparkly bat in hand (where did she even get that?) and her face was contoured with worry. "Are you hurt? Can you stand? Doesn't matter, come on!"

Deuce tensed as [Name] draped his arm over her shoulder and coiled around his waist and pulled him standing to the best of her ability - which honestly wasn't that great, she was quite physically weak. He didn't know if he was tensing from the still nerve-aching pain scorching his torso or how he was moulded against her torso and could feel her curves through his side. His legs seem to stumble a little but not for physical reasons - he emotionally was becoming hastily overwhelmed, steam bursting hotly out his ears. When was the last time he touched a girl like this? Had he ever? Naturally [Name] was there to support him regardless of Deuce's anxious thoughts.

Deuce quickly snapped back into their situation as the monster roared. Oh. Oh yeah. They were currently being attacked. He finally stood leaner, able to stand on his own without [Name's] kind assistance.
