Chapter 13

The next day the two women were together again in a rally.

They were never too close too each other unless it was really necessary.

Leni kept a good amount of distance between them, afraid that if they were near enough she'd just ignore her better judgement and do something that would hurt her or Risa.

It did help that the Vice President was constantly asked to do something or introduced to someone.

Leni was good at hiding her feelings and no one noticed any particular change in her.

The same could not be said to Risa. Risa was usually the bubbly and sweet senator that would talk to everyone about anything. Today though she was being quiet and focused on her work. She'd never talk to anyone unless they'd talk to her first.

She thought it would be easy being with Leni knowing that she too felt something for her, but that wasn't the case on the contrary it was very hard.

No matter what Risa was doing her gaze always seemed to search for Leni. No matter what the senator was doing she'd always be aware of what Leni was doing or where she was.

It was hard for her not to be close to Leni so she just tried to focus and busied herself.

They were now on stage and Risa was talking to the crowd.

It was one of her usual speech and she was following the teleprompter.

"At mga anak tulad ng sinabi ni VP Leni ang minamahal kailangan ipinaglalaban" Risa said before continuing with her speech

From backstage Leni was watching from her phone the youtube live and heard what the senator said.
Not only that, she saw how after that sentence her eyes seemed to look less cheerful.

Leni hated that she was the cause of that. Risa was a wonderful person and yet she was willing to suffer for her, but Leni, instead of stopping her or telling her to move on, let her selfish part take over and agreed to Risa's request.

Few minutes later she was called on stage. She did her usual entrance and greeted every senatorial candidate.

Her heart beating a little bit faster when she reached Risa, the two did a fist bump and Risa never moving her eyes from Leni.
The moment the two were face to face and crossed eyes Risa gave Leni the usual bright smile that she adored so much. No sign of pain, whenever she'd look at Leni she would just show her love in those eyes.

Leni's heart skipped a beat and almost stopped right there, but Risa moved aside slightly so she could continue, a silent reminder that they were in front of everyone.

She delivered her speech as usual and from behind her Risa would cheer for her the most.

Risa sure suffered whenever they'd be in the same room but she couldn't say or do things she wanted, but when Leni looked at her all the pain would just be set aside and she would automatically smile at the Vice President.
A single look from Leni would make her feel better. Being near her was enough for her.

Risa looked at Leni talking to the crowd, her eyes following the VP's every move.

They were now backstage and saying their final goodbyes to the volunteers and local officials when Risa's old congressman friend came and went directly to the senator.

Risa hugged him and talked to him for a few minutes.

"Ano na naman ginagawa mo dito?" She asked

"Malapit lang kase dito yung bahay namen and yung pamangkin ko nag volunteer sya kaya susunduin ko at naisip ko na rin mag hi ulit" he said
