Honestly this isn't a RaNT or a TeDTaLk or anything but just me aimlessly TaLKinG aBoUT something random...

So awhile ago I replied to someone's comment on someone else's own sHiP oR sinK book. Then the two of us became rather embroiled in a debate about what Squilf deserved (whether it was better or worse- from the WC world and fandom) and all the toms that slavered over her.

Then I must've angered them by carelessly retorting them when they'd only answered a question I'd asked (although it was rather rhetorical). [They'd deleted their comment; the header of the commentchain] I'm sorry that I angered them by shattering their peace and bothering them; I didn't mean to- (and I suck). Neither of us were even following one another...

At least I never tagged them to continue the argument when they clearly didn't want that. I only tagged them for a brief vague apology thingyy. But I'll literally dissect and contradict everything they'd said here anyway- I can sense it and IDK what else to do because of my *i-

Anyways, since I must've infuriated them, I will not tag them in this (and I don't think they will see this because it's inferior but if they do- "heLLo, yOu kNoW wHo yOu aRe"). I'll take it as more of a request thing because I'm almost out of RaNT topic ideas (I have like 1 more and maybe 1 in the process of development [in my mind, not waTTpaD]) and it piqued my interest as something unique. (I've only had one other "request" [a real one though]).

This user mentioned that it was very unfair for Squilf to have to endure such vituperation, especially considering all the gOoD she's committed and endured (and how it was uncalled for). But it wasn't Starclan entirely turning against themselves and passing their own blame to the she-cats (like the user claimed that Starclan was literally the one who advised Leafpool to follow her heart and Squilf to help conceal the lasting effects).

But 1) Spottedleaf and Yellowfang were literally the only ones who granted that eligibility. They don't speak for the entirety of Starclan, especially considering they're medicine cats themselves (and ones who practically broke the code themselves). At least Yellowfang SHOWED UP to the gathering, Spottedleaf didn't (not her fault or Mapleshade's though, and although she's for sure better than Star Flower, Maple is still better). But then Yellowfang's allegiance was Leafpool AND Squilf while Spottedleaf was only accountable for LeAFpOoL.

I don't think the evaluation castigation was such a big deal that was emotionally unbearable (the user sounded painstaked though, it being their entire reply's tOpic and them vehemently viewing so). I think that Bramble's (called for) and Ashfur's (uncalled for) actions were more atrocious for her. So what if she was injured beyond consciousness..? It wasn't the wrong timing because plans for the future were being considered and Starclan's realm ITSELF was already PEACEFUL.

They thought it was unfair that Ashfur was [easily] permitted into Starclan while Squilf was not. But in the end Squilf WAS permitted, only after sOmE struggle. The user also shouldn't have assumed that Ashfur wasn't even faced with some form resistance and was welcomed without admonition. They thought that being confronted with powerful spirit cats and having all the past sins they committed rubbed into their face was unimaginable. But I don't think it'd make a difference if there was any assessment. Whether or not there was, what Ashfur did was what he did and no discussion to shed attention on it would've changed anything.

I don't think Ashfur should've been enabled a passage to Starclan AT ALL. I definitely don't like Yellowfang's words in defense of him (Hollyleaf's forgotten contempt is all there ever was), that's the one thing I can't adore the she-cat for. If being fairly slaughtered was enough of a retribution for Ashfur's futile acts and baleful thoughts, then was Squilf being maimed from a rockslide in the sister's territory not equivalent?

I did think it was wrong to mention the sisters. Deceiving the clan and shrouding Leafpool's kits were the only matter that should've been addressed. It's not like it's the first time a soft spot for some outsider occurred, and the turmoil wasn't even dire or urgent (it was only Tigerstar's impatience that surpassed Bramblestar's). It wasn't a big deal.

Anyways the only cat that really received (and deserved) harsh chastisement was Leafpool (from Moth Flight). Squilf didn't receive the half of it, so that's good because it was Leafpool's misdeed and her's alone practically.

It's sad that Moth Flight *of all cats* was the one berating and not some other better ancient cat. It doesn't really matter that she lay the foundation of the code and discovered the moonstone (she had indiscrete messages passed right onto her unlike most with more enigma). She wasn't the beginning, cats like Cloud Spots, Dappled Pelt, & Pebble Heart were. She had no right to go offffff on Leafpool just because she'd experienced the pain of sacrificing kits to lay a code only to be broken. After all, she DID have those kits and mate with a tom. Everycat also were fully aware that they were her's, only raising them otherwise. Nevertheless, whether it was a fallacy or not I'm glad the stuck-up Leafpool was humbled (if the aftermath of the great truth revelation wasn't enough)...

I feel like something that just seeped into my mind has slipped away. I'm definitely missing a few singular details to sentences. Anyway, that was it. I'm done for today!!

This rant was not long at all. The short disclaimer is literally 50%; this entire thing is just the disclaimer. Whelp I still had fun with it, because what even is fun nowadays?
