The next few weeks were the same as the ones before. Each day seemed to repeat itself, and the party was getting sick of being confined to one place. They all were spontaneous adventurers at heart, so the quarantine life was not for them. Luckily for them, something exciting was coming up. Max's birthday was in a few days, and she was going to turn 18 years old. Lucas had an idea or two up his sleeve, but he would somewhat need Mike's help.

Lucas was able to pull Mike aside before he went to bed.

"Do you have a tent here?" Lucas whispered.

"Ummm, I'm not sure. If we do, it would be in the garage. Why?" Mike was curious. What was he going to do? Go camping in the backyard?

"You know the national park that's like an hour away?"

"No, but continue." Why the hell would he know of a park that was an hour away?

"Okay, well, the campgrounds are still open, so I figured I'd take Max up for her birthday for two or three days. We're all getting sick and tired of this place, so a change in scenery would be nice." Lucas explained. Mike wondered how Lucas was so good at coming up with gifts. Ever since they were younger, he would nail it every time. It didn't matter who the recipient was, he always knew what to get them.

"Damn, I wish it was my birthday," Mike laughed out his response. "That's genius. But yeah, as I said, if we have one, it would be in the garage. I can help you look for it tomorrow if you want?"

"That would be great, thanks, man." They both went upstairs together and separated into their bedrooms.

A smile immediately appeared on Lucas's face when he saw Max. She was in one of his t-shirts and a pair of shorts. Lucas assumed she'd just gotten out of the shower because her hair was still damp, and he could smell her luscious shampoo from the doorway. Max was reading a book, so she had her glasses on. She only needed them when she was going to read for a long time. While Lucas thought Max looked good 24/7, there was something about her when she was ready for bed. Her face gleams free of makeup but is soft and smooth due to her skincare. Once she settles down for the night, her demeanor changes ever so slightly. She's calmer and more delicate looking than during the day.

"Hey Stalker, stop staring and go shower," Max laughed softly.

25 minutes later, Max set down her book and folded up her glasses to watch her boyfriend. He is always glistening when he comes out of the shower. She watched him walk to the dresser for some shorts. The muscles in his back showed when he opened the drawer. That was something Max still wasn't used to seeing. In their 5 years of dating, Lucas just started working out and lifting for the past 2 years. It didn't take long for his muscles to grow. Lucas having muscles didn't matter to Max, but they sure as hell were a good bonus.

"And you call me Stalker," Lucas chuckled.

"I was just...observing." She rebutted. He gave her a goofy grin and joined her in bed.

"Is there anything special you want for your birthday?" He asked, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Lucas knew she hated her birthday but was determined to make this year amazing.

"A slice of red velvet cake would be nice," She smiled at him sleepily.

"I can make that happen. Anything else?"

"A private jet, a brand new car, and a few million dollars would be great." Her sarcasm made Lucas's smile grow 10 times bigger. "My mom said something is coming in the mail, and she'll probably want to FaceTime me, but other than that, I'm all yours."

"Perfect."

Max stared him in the eyes, knowing he was already planning something. She hated surprises, so she decided not to ask him about it. If she didn't know, she wouldn't have to worry.

Lucas leaned forward to give her a goodnight kiss. His lips made every stressful thing go away. It didn't matter if it was work, school, family, or friends. All her problems would poof into thin air.

"Thank you," Max rested her head on his chest.

"For what?"

"Just being here."

"Wouldn't trade it for the world."

He kissed her on the top of her head before they both fell asleep.

Vol. 2 spoilers.

Every time I think I'm healed from vol 2, I get hit with another edit. I also don't know why I didn't see it coming. Like, of course, they were building up Lucas and Max's relationship so it would hurt more when Vecna got her. Anyways, I'm going to keep posting because Max is going to be perfectly fine. She is going to wake up next season and not be paralyzed or blind. I start my new job tomorrow, so I'll try my best to get another update out soon!

I hope you enjoyed this small filler chapter lol.
