By the time 10 a.m. rolled around, everyone was awake. Mike wasn't surprised everyone started complaining about the lack of food. They had all drunkenly eaten it all last night.
"El and I can go!" Max volunteered herself and the brown-haired girl.
"Yes, please." El's been wanting to get out of the house. The guys had no problem letting the girls go grocery shopping. The six teenagers worked together to create a shopping list. It included everything from food to sunscreen. With their list and masks in hand, the girls left for the store.
"This is going to cost a fortune," Max said as they headed into the store.
"I know, but it will last us at least two weeks. Plus, we get to leave the house for a while. That makes it worth it." El added.
"Uh oh, trouble in paradise?" Max chuckled and grabbed 2 carts, one for her and one for El.
"Not really. We've just been stuck together for so long. I'm slowly getting sick of everyone but you. I don't know how but I swear I never get sick of you. I kinda miss my dad too."
"Can't relate about the dad part," Max laughed. "We should have a sleepover in the basement tonight! Just us, no boys."
"YES! We are going to buy a bunch of stuff for tonight, along with everything on the list, of course," El was ecstatic.
The girls spent a total of 3 hours trying to find everything. Their carts were filled to the brim with goods.
"Is this all going to fit in the car?"
"It better!"
The trunk and backseat were filled with groceries. Exhaustion hit the girls when they realized they were gone for 4 hours.
"BOYS! COME HELP!" Max screamed when she walked through the front door. El was impressed when they all ran outside to bring in the groceries.
"Woah, hold up, we need your help," Mike pleaded when Max and El plopped on the couch.
"Hell no. You're fully capable of putting everything away. We just spent 4 hours getting everyone's shit." Max clapped back.
Lucas hit Mike in the back of the head, signaling him to put groceries away like the rest of them. He also didn't need a hungry Mike and a hungry Max to start fighting. That would be brutal for everyone.
Once everything was put away, the boys made lunch for everyone. Max and El were in desperate need of a nap. Who knew grocery shopping took so much energy? Not them. Plus, they wanted to stay up late for their sleepover.
"Were you guys really shopping for that long?" Lucas asked as Max shut the door and jumped into bed.
"No, we went to the mall and got our nails done." Lucas rolled his eyes with a grin at her sarcasm.
"If you sleep too much now, you won't be able to fall asleep tonight."
"That's the plan." Max didn't even need to look at Lucas to know there was a ridiculous grin on his face. "Sorry to disappoint you, but El and I are having a sleepover in the basement."
"I have to sleep alone tonight," Lucas complained.
"I mean, you could go snuggle up with Mike if you want," She smiled at him.
"You couldn't pay me enough to do that. I guess that means I have to spend time with you now." Lucas snuggled up next to her.
"Someone has gotten clingy. It's almost like you haven't seen me every day for the past month. What are you going to do when we go back home?" Max laughed at him.
"I'll have to sneak over to your place."
"Our parents will love that!"
"It makes me excited."
"For what? Our parents to get mad at us?" Max laughed.
"For the future, when we get our own place." Lucas pulled her in closer by the waist. Max likes to act tough, but those words melted her heart.
"I hope the world gets back to normal by then."
"I'm sure it'll all blow over by the time school starts again."
"Lucas, that's in like 2 1/2 months. I think we'll be lucky if it's over by 2021."
"Okay, fair. That sounds really overwhelming though." He admitted. Lucas would be lying if he said he wasn't a little bit fearful of the pandemic.
"We'll deal with the future when it comes. There is no need to worry about it now," Max provided comfort and kissed the top of his head.
Max drifted to sleep in Lucas's arms. If Lucas was being honest, he was surprised they haven't fought yet. Since high school started, they haven't had nearly as many fights as they did in middle school. But they have been together 24/7 for the past month, and no one has fought with anyone. How was that possible?
A few hours passed, and Max was awakened by a pound at the door and a loud voice.
"MAX! SLEEPOVER TIME!" El yelled, startling Lucas.
"Someone's excited she won't have to share a bed with Mike tonight," Lucas raised his eyebrows at her.
"Yeah, I am. He uses all the blankets and takes up the whole damn bed!" Lucas laughed at her response.
"I'll be right down. I'm just going to grab my stuff!" El nodded at Max and skipped happily down the stairs.
"See ya tomorrow, Stalker," Max said, but Lucas didn't let her leave without a kiss. "Don't miss me too much," She winked at him and left.
Max got downstairs, and El had already set everything up. The movie was ready to place, the snacks were out, and the blankets covered the couch.
The girls were glad to have a night by themselves. They loved their friends but living with the boys pushed their friendships.
El and Max spent hours watching movies, gossiping, and laughing. It felt like one of their normal sleepovers back in Hawkins. However, they were grateful no parents could yell at them about how loud they were being. The girls had no clue what the boys were doing, but they didn't care one bit. They just hoped the upstairs wouldn't be trashed in the morning.
There wasn't a lot of Lumax in this chapter, lol sorry. I have a few ideas for the next few chapters. I just have to somehow tie them all together. Anyways, hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading, and I love looking at your comments. I kinda suck at responding to them but I love reading them!!
