They got back to the house and unloaded everything. Once everything was put away, the girls immediately got started on their whipped coffee.

"Hey, Lucas, turn on the news!" El yelled at him while getting the instant coffee out. Lucas did as he was told, and everyone watched from the kitchen island.

"El, do you really want to watch this? It's kinda annoying all coronavirus this, coronavirus that."

"Dustin's right lets watch that Netflix show everyone's watching!" Will shouts out.

"Omg, the one with the tiger!" Max says, remembering everyone on TikTok rave about it.

"I gotchu," Mike grabbed the remote and turned on Tiger King.

The party spent that evening making whipped coffee and watching Tiger King. (If that doesn't describe the first part of quarantine, I don't know what does.)

The last few days of March were filled with a bunch of things the party wanted to do before they left the lakehouse. It was the night before they were supposed to leave when they received a FaceTime call from all the parents.

"I want you guys to gather around, please!" Mr. Sinclair softly demanded through the phone. The group of teens got together on the couch.

"As you, all know the coronavirus is now a global pandemic. Your school just went virtual for the rest of the year," Mrs. Wheeler sighed, breaking the news. The kid's eyes went wide, never actually thinking this would happen. "Now we know this screws up the fun of your junior year. So all of us decided that we are allowing you guys to stay at the lakehouse if you want." Everyone looked around at each other and smiled slightly.

"We all want to stay. How would we get our stuff for school?" Mike peeps up.

"We're going to bring everything you guys would need to the Henderson's and then send it to you all."

"Are you guys sure you want to stay there? I don't know how long this whole lockdown is going to be it could be months."

"Mom, it won't be that long we'll be fine," Max reassures her mother.

They all said their goodbyes and decided that each one of them would send a list of what they need to their parents. For a while, they all just sat there, soaking up all this new information. The party didn't know how to feel. I mean, they get to live out of state with their best friends, but they all had a fear of what was slowly changing the world.

"Well, what's the plan?" Max said, standing up, breaking the silence.

Everyone looked around at each other, lost on how they would live by themselves in a pandemic.

"Why don't we make a plan?" El suggested.

"What do you mean?"

"For one, we should decide who is going to cook and what they're going to cook. I think we should take turns."

"I'm good with that. Did you guys buy food for actual meals?" Lucas questioned.

Dustin and Will looked at each other with wide eyes knowing all they bought was junk. Luckily, Mike and El were somewhat responsible and bought stuff for real meals. El made a list of who was cooking on what days and went it like this:

Monday- Dustin

Tuesday- Lucas

Wednesday- El

Thursday- Will

Friday- Take out or free for all

Saturday- Max

Sunday- Mike

"Does that look good to you guys?" Everyone was nodding their heads until Will gasped in excitement.

"WE SHOULD DO THEMED DINNERS!" he squealed.  They all agreed and picked the theme for each day.

"I'm so smart; this is going to be great," Will said proudly.

"Don't act like you came up with this; you saw it on your fyp," Mike pointed out.

"Fine, you got me." The whole party laughed as Will just rolled his eyes, chuckling.

Around midnight everyone decided to call it a night.

Max was brushing her teeth when Lucas came in and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Yes, Don Juan?" she smiled.

"How do you feel about staying here longer?"

"I mean, I'm kinda excited we all get to do school together..."

"But...?"

"I'm just waiting for someone to crack. I know we've been on vacations with everyone before, but we all stayed with our separate families and got time to ourselves. I don't know how long it's going to be before someone gets in a fight," Max laughed.

"Bet that it'll be El and Dustin," Lucas commented while changing his shirt.

"I don't know... I'm thinking it'll be you and Mike."

He gasped sarcastically, knowing she was probably right.

"Good thing we don't hold grudges. El and Dustin on the other hand..." he laughed.

Turning serious again; Lucas asked, "Other than that; you're good with everything?"

"Yes, you can stop worrying about me. I'll be fine," She says, wrapping her arms around his neck. He wasn't going to stop worrying. When something bad happens, most of the time, Max distances herself away from everyone. That causes her to have a lot of time alone, which isn't always good, and Lucas didn't want her to turn to her old habits.

"I know. I just don't want to see you struggle like that again."

Max kissed him on the lips and thought back on that dark point in her life. She remembered no one else noticed except Lucas...

A little cliff hanger in the end there.

Don't worry, you will find out more about Max's past soon.

Sorry for not updating in a while!

School has been crazy, but I'm hoping to get back to writing more.

I know this book doesn't have a lot of lumax so far, but it will soon!
