The boys filled the tube with air while El and Max filled the cooler with snacks and drinks. They all met on the dock to pick out life jackets. "To the boat," Dustin exclaimed ready for some fun. (The boat ⬇️)

The girls and Lucas laid out in the front with the rest in the back. "I don't know if I trust Wheeler driving this boat," Max teased. "I'm with Max on this one," Dustin agrees. "Oh come on guys he's fine. You do know what you're doing, right?" El asks her boyfriend as he steps behind the wheel. "Yes, I know what I'm doing. In fact, I've had my boating license since I was 14." "Didn't you almost run into a dock right after you got it?" Will asked laughing. "OMG, I remember that!" "Whatever. I'm not that stupid now," Mike rolls his eyes and starts the boat.
He drives to the middle of the lake and turns off the engine asking, "who is going first?" No one really wanted to go first not knowing how Mike would drive. "Guys I've been doing this for years. Just trust me you'll be fine." Everyone exchanged glances before Max spoke up. "Fine, I'll go! Who is coming with me? Three people can fit on the tube." No one said anything so she grabbed Lucas and Will by the ears and pulled them towards the tube. "Looks like we're the chosen ones," Will laughed. They jumped on the tube and prepared for Mike's driving.
"Bet that Lucas falls off first," Will whispers to Max. "Hey, I heard that!" "Is he wrong?" Max laughed. "Fine. First, one to fall off gives the last one on 20 bucks." "Deal," Will and Max said simultaneously.
Now that there was a challenge they all took it much more seriously. With each bump, the tube went flying in the air. Everyone's knuckles turned white from holding on so hard. Max continued to give Mike signals to go faster knowing Lucas and Will were losing their gripes. All of their eyes went wide as they headed into another boat's wake. As they went over a huge bump Max took the opportunity to give Lucas a little nudge. Maybe a "little nudge" was an understatement. She shoved him off that tube sending him flying into the cold water. You could hear his high pitch scream from shore. It made Will laugh so hard that when an unexpected wave hit him, he too fell off.
"I won losers!" Max says looking at the boys in the water. "That was so unfair you pushed me!" Lucas complained. "There were no rules against it. You owe me $20," she grinned widely. Mike swerved around so the boys could use the ladder while Dustin pulled the tube in so Max could get off. Lunch was filled with snacks and sandwiches on the boat. Their day continued with jokes, bets, and challenges. By the time 5 pm rolled around everyone was exhausted. They went back to the house to relax before dinner. "I can't believe you pushed me off," Lucas said to Max as he closed their bedroom door behind him. "Sorry, not sorry. It was pretty funny to me," she said teasingly. He rolled his eyes but continued to admire her in the small black bikini she wore. "My eyes are up here Stalker," she smirked while Lucas's cheeks turned red. "I- I was just admiring your beauty." He quickly tried to recover. "Mhmm, I'm sure you were," Max said slinging her arms around his neck. He placed his hands on her hips and she leaned forward and whispered in his ear, "you smell like lake water." "You totally just ruined the moment," he chuckled. "I did, didn't I. Well, I need to shower anyway," she skipped into the bathroom connected to their room. "Need company?" Lucas joked. "Maybe after dinner," she smirked and closed the door.
El begged Mike to watch the sunset from the boat. So, Dustin and El packed up salads, chicken, and garlic bread to take on the boat. Mike went out and took off the extra cushions so he could set up the table that was underneath them. They made it out to the middle of the lake just in time to eat while the sun was setting. The sky turned into a mixture of blue, red, and pink. Many jokes were made throughout dinner arising memories to be brought up. It was a great day until they went back and turned the tv on. Headlines filled the screen.
"PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP DECLARES NATIONAL EMERGENCY"
Confusion spread across the teenage faces making them grab their phones. Everyone had missed texts and calls from their families. Once they knew what was going on there was a collective decision needed to be made...
I'm sorry this is kinda crappy But I'm thinking of having a lot of the trends and other events in this book. Would you guys want that or would you rather just stick with the pandemic?
