Back to school

The next morning I woke up to the sound of spooky opening the bedroom door. "Where are you going?" I ask sitting up in the bed pushing the blanket off looking at him. "I gotta go, you know I said just for tonight." He says walking out of the bedroom. I get up looking at the time before following him through the house. "Can you at least take me to school?" I ask standing behind him.

"You just got out of the hospital, you sure that's a good idea?" He says looking back at me sounding shocked. "Yes, I need to go back it's my last year."
I say and he nods sighing "go get ready and I'll be in the car." He says walking through the house as I turn on my heel going back to my bedroom to change. I grab a pair of sweatpants and a crewneck sweater grabbing a few necklaces putting them on and my red and white Nikes.

I grab my backpack tossing my phone and keys in it going outside to the car and seeing Spooky sitting in the car waiting for me. "Come on, you're late," Oscar says rolling his eyes at me as I get into the car shutting the door. He pulls out of my driveway heading towards school.

"After this, we should take a break seeing each other, I don't wanna make things worse on either of us," I say and spooky doesn't even look over at me as he continues driving. He nods stopping in front of the school to let me out. "Be safe." He says almost as if it was a demand. "I will," I say waving goodbye as I walk towards the school, thinking about the small baby beginning to grow in my belly.

They deserve to be safe, even if that means I do it on my own. Once I get to the front door I turn back to see spooky sitting in the car still watching me. He does care in his way even if it's a little fucked up.

He pulls off as I go into the school walking to class. The teacher doesn't bother questioning me, she continues teaching her lesson as I go to my seat sitting my bag down leaning back against my seat. Realizing I hadn't taken any of my medicine, I only planned on seeing my friends. It was already late in the school day by the time I had arrived and Lunch was next period.
I knew I'd have to explain everything, well almost everything to my friends when they see me.

I grabbed my bag walking toward lunch seeing Ruby and Jamal leaving their class and heading towards lunch. I walk behind not trying to catch up thinking about what I can tell them. Seeing César who notices me as I walk into the cafeteria. "Alyćia!" He calls out to me jogging over to me looking me up and down. "Hi, César," I mumble continuing to walk towards the lunch line. "What happened is Oscar back?" He says following beside me. "I got shot by my brother, and yes he's home," I say in a low voice grabbing my lunch tray and water.

"Holy shit," César says grabbing his food training beside me. "Your brother and I aren't seeing each other anymore," I say walking to the lunch table Jamal and Ruby are already sitting at.
