(The timeline isn't spot on and some things obviously change.)
Instead of leaving the house to see anyone as soon as I got back to freeridge I grabbed my clothes from my truck and tossed them onto my old bed sitting where I had left it. I began tidying up my old room digging through the linen closet for sheets making my bed and dusting all my old furniture. So much has changed since I left, Olivia has passed, and as selfish as it may sound I couldn't bring myself to come back to freeridge to be ridiculed or questioned. But I should have been there for my grieving friends.
I sat down on the end of my bed glancing over at the small bed placed beside my own pulling out my phone taking a picture sending it to Abeni. It was the first thing Abeni had bought for me once she learned that I was going to have a baby. She saw the picture and quickly replied, "Be safe out there, and let me know how your new job goes." Abeni says, she helped me through school and occasionally went to my ob-gyn appointments after reading her text I began digging through my new maternity clothes pulling out a pair of black flared bottom leggings and a solid white t-shirt before going to the bathroom and taking a warm shower detangling my curly hair.
Once I was finished I dried off throwing on my clothes and styled my hair. I hadn't really thought through my plans to talk to Oscar or how he was going to react to the news. I shrugged it off and got a pair of my thick socks and shoes walking back into the kitchen grabbing my keys off the counter and locking the door behind me. Since Dad hasn't been staying here I need to get the necessities like food, toilet paper, and trash bags. I unlocked my truck throwing my bag into the passenger seat before buckling my seatbelt and pulling out of the house.
It was already late and getting dark out. Freeridge had changed since leaving, not many people were out after street lights had come on, and since Olivia had been shot everyone had that uneasy feeling about who lurks around and what really goes on outside of their homes. I drove further down the block casually glancing around slowing in front of Oscar's house and seeing him standing on his porch. Which of course got his attention. He quickly tossed his cigarette into the yard walking off his porch down the sidewalk towards my truck.
"Here goes nothing," I mumble to no one but myself before pulling toward the curb and turning off the engine. He stopped at the end of the sidewalk furrowing his eyebrows and looking towards me. I opened my door and slid out of the truck, his expression dropped when noticed me. "Alyćia?" He was in a low mumble sounding confused watching as I rounded the front of the truck.
