narae sat on the bench expectantly, hands folded in her lap while she occasionally glanced down at her phone. the other boys were doing a warmup game, the sounds of smack talk and the ball bouncing on the pavement filling the air. she would rather not waste her energy until everyone was here.

"this is for you, narae!" jaemin called out, missing the basket completely. she let out a small laugh and an eye roll at his pathetic attempt of flirting before checking to see if she had any new messages again. mark and renjun were pretty late. she figured renjun was taking care of his homework before he left, so that wasn't a problem. but mark? he'd already had to get chenle and jisung, and now this donghyuck guy? she hoped he was okay. the school wasn't that far.

"hey stupid," jisung sat down next to the elder, scanning her up and down in concern. "whats wrong with you? come play with us."

"not yet," she mumbled, leg beginning to bounce anxiously. she could feel his eyes on her, not looking away until she gave an answer. "..renjun is late."

"are you sure it's just about him..? last week you were ready to tear his head off for trying to steal your cat."

"i've moved past it."

"uh huh, sure." jisung rolled his eyes. he turned his body over to face the girl, leaning in closer with a quiet whisper. "what about mark? you worried about him? "

narae smacked his arm, but still leaned forward to gossip nonetheless. "don't talk about that near the other boys... don't give me that look, i know they know. but chenle never shuts up when it comes to stuff like that. 'oh mark! narae has liked you for over a year now! oh mark look at this!' don't laugh, im serious! that's what would happen, i can guarantee it! i-"

"what are you two whispering about?"

"nothing!" the girl fixed her posture, grabbing jisung's forearm in panic. letting go, she flattened her shirt and fixed her hair, clearing her throat before making proper eye contact. "when did you get here, mark?"

"you guys are such kids," he chuckled, taking a seat and squeezing close to narae with the limited room left on it. his hand was next to hers, tapping on the metal rhythmically. it was a habit she'd noticed a long time ago when they first met. she let out a small smile knowing he was still doing it two years later. "hyuck, over here!"

narae lifted her eyes from mark's hand over to the person she least wanted to see.

a quiet "what the actual fuck?" escaped from her lips. she shook her head at her mistake, a frown quickly falling onto her face. the girl stood up, not even greeting their new guest as he exited mark's car and made his way toward their area. her mood was ruined yet again, she thought, lightly sprinting toward her 2 friends.

"na jaemin!"

"what, missed me?" he teased, quickly stopping when he noticed her expression. she was mad mad. the type of mad he only saw when...well, when a certain boy was near them. his lips formed an 'o' shape, quickly understanding where yet another mood change was coming from.

"what the hell is he doing here," narae hissed. earlier in the classroom was enough conversation with haechan for her entire lifetime. she didn't need to see haechan, only sooyun did. even than, she still said no to his stupid deal!

"narae..." jaemin silently laughed, "you didn't know haechan's legal name is donghyuck? you really do the most to avoid him if you didn't know that."

she glared, lips forming into a thin line. "yeah, clearly. he shouldn't be here. he knows i hate his guts."

"to be fair, he's mark's best friend, and friends with all of us to. so...."

"fuck you for being right. and fuck you for not telling me his name was donghyuck to!"

"that's not my fault!" jaemin raised his hands in disbelief. he wasn't mad at her, though. a small part of him felt bad for not saying anything but hey, was that really his place? he liked seeing people argue, you can't blame the man.

"whatever.... and still, where the fuck is jun!?"

"right here," a highly amused voice said from behind her, laughing when he saw her jump. "sorry, i drove sooyun home today since i knew you'd be staying late."

"oh thank god you're safe...it's okay," she gave him a quick hug, inhaling the scent of his floral perfume. he'd always been comforting to be around, a sort of antidote for her nerves. "i was worried as hell."

"why?" he looked up at her, head tilted in confusion. he felt the arms around him tense, narae was horrible at hiding things. "you're anxious, why?"

"to many reasons, jun. it's best not to talk about it now."

"don't just ignore your problems," he pulled back slightly, face infront of hers, brushing a strand of hair out of the girls face. "let's talk after we play, okay? the others don't have to hear."

"fine, okay." she nodded slightly, taking a quick peek at the group of boys which jaemin had gone to join. they were all laughing at something haechan was saying, chenle's laughter being the loudest and filling the whole court. god, she hated that boys guts but atleast he made her friends happy. "same team?"

"course....you guys ready?" renjun yelled, letting go of her and motioning them over. "you're all gonna fucking lose!"

haechan was the first to reach them, dribbling the ball he brought. he brushed passed narae and renjun, looking back and forth between them before making eye contact with narae, a cocky smirk playing on his face.

"not to her, i won't."
