as the final bell rung on friday, the nervous feeling narae had been suppressing all week came rushing back- today was the day. though not showing it, she was an absolute mess. what should she wear? makeup or no makeup? how should she do her hair? what did mark even like?

"are we still on for saturday?" jaemin questioned, spinning his keys around his finger as the group exited the school and made their way towards the parking lot. their cars were parked side by side, the spots practically reserved for them as soon as they were old enough to drive.

"of course," haechan nodded in confirmation, shooting a quick glance over at narae. she visibly seemed more tense than usual- and that was saying something. drifting away from the boy next to him, haechan appeared to the girls side. he lowered his voice to just above a whisper, bending down closer to her ear. "you nervous?"

she nodded, continuing to look straight ahead. "very..."

haechan let out a small chuckle, finding it ironic that the narae was nervous over a boy, let alone his best friend. his dorky, awkward best friend with not a single ounce of game in him. the girl who never struggled to speak her mind, who was always so straightforward and got whatever she wanted was nervous over this? hilarious.

"it's not funny," she rolled her eyes, finally turning to face him as she punched his shoulder lightly. quieting down, she hissed, "you'd be the same over sooyun!"

"fair," he nodded in defeat, the pair stopping as they arrived at his own car. "but dont worry, he's a good guy, i seriously doubt anything with mark could ever go poorly."

narae nodded in agreement, smiling at haechan in appreciation for his reassurance. "thank you...see you monday?"

"see you," he warmly smiled back.

narae left the boy and made her way back to the rest of the group. she ignored the curious looks they were giving her- understandably, it must have been weird for them to see her willingly talk to him. jaemin raised his eyebrow as the two entered his car. "what was that?"

"it was nothing," she brushed it off, "just about schoolwork."

"didn't seem like it..." he mumbled, giving her a strange look.

"lets just drive, okay?" narae gave jaemin a look that signaled for him to drop the conversation. "i have somewhere i need to be."
