one intense round of air hockey and many other distractions later, mark and narae finally arrived at the designated machines. "you're absolutely going down, lee." the noirette mocked, ball in hand while she prepared to shoot. as the ding of the game signified the start of the match, the boy looked back at her and laughed.

"nah, i'll win this for you." mark poorly winked and shot the ball which, to his dismay, completely missed the hoop. "that was just a warmup.."

narae hunched over, laughing at the boys antics. "mark lee, you're such a dork."

he grinned, slighly embarrassed, continuing to shoot until the round was over. it was a close match, but he still managed to win with an extra goal or two. puffing his chest out proudly, mark stated, "see, i've still got it in me!"

"i went easy on you," the younger shook her head, a mischievous smile on her face as she reached for her phone. glancing at the screen nervously, it finally hit the girl just how long they'd been playing around. "oh...it's late.."

"hm?"

"oh, nothing.. just saw the time, that's all."

"do you have to go home?"

the girl hesitated, wishing this moment wouldn't have to end so soon. she was having so much fun, a rare feeling with all the work she had piling up these days. "i still have some work for student council to get done.."

"i understand," mark hummed in acknowledgment. being on the same team with her, he knew exactly what it was like to be troubled with the heavy workload. he couldn't imagine what it was like managing the position that she did. "well, let me take you.."

"thank you mark," she sighed in content, "it's kind of sad to leave this place, isn't it?"

the elder smiled sweetly, "we can always come back together."

---

the two drove back home in a comfortable silence, windows down as they took in the fresh air and sights of the city. narae held tightly onto the prizes mark won for her, still feeling giddy and riding the high of spending the day together with him.

this was a day she could've only dreamed of if it weren't for haechan. this was working. of course it was. the girl was so previously blinded by hatred for the boy that she never would've thought he was capable of keeping his word- but he definitely was, and she owed him everything for it.

"we'll be there soon," mark spoke up, snapping the girl out of her thoughts. she glanced towards him, the streetlamps lightly illuminating his face, just barely making out his soft features. he had one hand on the wheel, the other unsurprisingly tapping in rhythm of a song narae was sure they had been listening to earlier. it was a beautiful sight, seeing him so raw and comfortable like this. he was simply beautiful. she had always thought so.

as they pulled into her driveway, narae still couldn't get the picture of him out of her mind. she wondered if he was able to see her sneaking glances, or if he had maybe done the same. time felt like it slowed as the boy opened the door for her, reaching his hand out for her to grab. still basked in a comfortable silence, they walked towards the porch.

the older was the first to talk, narae feeling much too flustered from the contact to say anything, his warm hand still gently holding hers. "call me if you need any help, okay? i'll be here."

"you're too kind lee," she looked up at him, emitting a small laugh. "i had a great time today, really."

he smiled back down at her, "we'll just have to do this sometime soon than."

"for sure. goodnight mark!"

"goodnight narae!" mark gave his signature grin before turning back around. narae watched as he got into his car, waving goodbye one final time as she watched his figure disappear into the night. as she entered her own home, the girl couldn't shake the feeling that there was one boy who needed thanking for making this day possible.
