Alex heard his beta calling to him while he was sitting with Melody.
What? He snapped in his head.
We've got some bad news. You need to get back here. And fast.
What's it about? He turned his head towards the forest then back to Melody. She was so beautiful. Too bad he had to reject her; she would never be able to give him what he really wanted. What he really needed. She smiled into his eyes and he felt his heart pull harder to her.
We have to meet in the war room. Ethan is close to our borders. Alpha, we have to make it quick.
Coming. He licked Melody's face and headed into the woods. I'm only two minutes out.
Alex was fast, faster than any other wolf there was. He was the strongest wolf too, it also helped him that he was taller than everyone else. He was born to be a true leader. He came from four different Alpha's. His power was unlike any other. He had never been beaten in a war and he wanted to keep it that way.
He arrived at the pack house and met his beta with clothes in his hands. Andrew threw Alex the clothes once he changed back into human form.
"Ethan is getting closer. The spies said something about him looking for his mate."
"His mate? Why would he be coming this way?"
"He said that his mate has been traveling around and around and this is where his mate is."
"Why hasn't he found his mate sooner if he knows where his mate is?" he questioned as he opened the door to the war room.
Andrew shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, but I think we need to be prepared for when he comes. You know he is going to request to stay here."
Alex rolled his eyes, knowing his beta was telling the truth. Him coming meant a ball was in order and more security was going to be needed. He might as well have the omegas to begin the preparations. He sat down at the head of the table where his Gamma, Beta, Father and his top two rank warriors were waiting on him.
"It has been found that Ethan is on his way here." Alex started. "First thing we know we will have to do is a damn dinner and ball. Second thing, high alert security. We have to accommodate his annoying ass for at least three days." He rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"He is looking for his mate," his beta began. "He is a little more anxious than normal."
"He is on a rampage. Going town to town, city to city." his gamma informed everyone. "He has been trying to find her for the past two years. Apparently when he gets close enough to her she moves and he loses her again."
"So he has met his mate before?" John asked.
"It seems he has." Aaron his gamma stated.
"Why didn't he say anything about it before?" Alex questioned.
"Because she's human." Everyone looked at Aaron when he said it.
"That can't be easy for him." Thomas, his first ranked warrior, blurted out.
"And why is that?" Alex asked.
"Well, she's human, she can't give him what he wants. Maybe he is trying to find her to reject her."
"But you know what that will do to him." John said, pointing his words toward Alex.
Alex ignored him and continued the previous conversation. "So, Ethan is on his way and we need to prepare for his coming. Let's get the omegas all their work and up the security." He stood up and began walking out, stopping half way he turned around.. "Does anyone know the name of the human?"
"Melody Diaz."
Alex's heart stopped. No, it can't be. His eyes looked right into his fathers; John saw anger in his son's eyes. This was not going to be good.
"We can't let Ethan find her." he gritted through his teeth.
"I know where she is, I can go get her and we can keep her here." Thomas suggested.
Alex shook his head. "No, I will handle her. She can't know what's going on."
"What is going on?" Aaron asked.
Alex looked around the room, his father nodded his head. He needed to tell them. They needed to know.
"I've found my mate."
"Oh, that's great." Andrew clapped his back. Andrew had already found his mate and was awaiting his first child.
"No, not great," he replied.
"I don't-"
"Tell them, son." John told him.
"I-" he fumbled for the words. "She's human."
He could have heard a pin drop in the room. "She is also, after having this conversation, Ethan's mate."
An outburst happened in the room. Talks of war, kidnapping, murder, rejection all being thrown around. When the arguing didn't seem to stop Alex slammed his hand down on the table; the noise made everyone stop talking and turn to the noise.
"We will not be putting my mate in any harmful situation." his voice was demanding. "We will not be killing my mate, we- I-" he paused, finding the words his heart and wolf wanted to hear and say. "will not reject her."
Mummers broke out again while his dad sat there and smiled at his son.
"Wait." John said. The room went silent for the previous alpha to speak. "We can't control who our mates are. They are already chosen for us. This child has been through a lot. She is kind, smart, loyal, funny and her aura is pure. She is everything and more than suitable to be our Luna. I would be proud to lie my life down for her."
"Who is she?" Blake, the second rank warrior, asked.
"She was an orphan that went from foster home to foster home. I've had a good amount of time to spend with her. I shop at the cafe she works at. She's been there for almost seven months now. I go in every morning. She doesn't know who her parents are or anything about where she is from." John looked at Alex. "However, I don't think she is human after all."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Where are you getting this information from?"
"I've got some connections and I think she is actually from here. I believe she's from the White Wolf Clan."
Alex sat down to process his fathers words. The White Wolf Clan was the purest of pure. How could he be so sure of it? They were wiped out decades ago. No one had heard or seen from them in so long. There was no way she was from there.
"Who gave you this information?"
"Like I said, I have my sources." John replied. "That's neither here nor there. What we need to do is talk to her. She likes me and I'll be able to help her out. She isn't twenty one yet so she hasn't found her wolf. But no one can know who she is or where she is from." John looked at Alex. "No one can see her wolf."
