"Do we have to leave this room?" she asked him after their second round.
"Unfortunately," he kissed her neck. "Yes, we do. It's been longer than an hour."
"Ugh." she rolled her eyes. "That means I have to get up and put on clothes." she rolled on top of him. "When really, all I would like is to stay here with you."
Leaning down to kiss him she smiled.
"I would love that, but we both have to go get the information from my father and talk to Ethan." he patted her butt. "So, get up."
He tossed her to the other side of the bed and got up. She followed him out of the bedroom and into the bathroom. When they were ready to go back down stairs he turned to her.
"I don't have any idea what my father has found about your family but we will talk to him first and then we'll talk to Ethan." he opened the door.
As Melody walked through the opening, he grabbed her arm and brought her lips to his. "And we are having a ball tonight."
"Oh, I don't-"
"Yes you do have something. I have already bought you something."
"How did you buy me something when you don't even know my size."
He smirked. "You're going to think I'm a creeper. I looked in your closet and got your size. Besides, it was supposed to be your birthday present."
She laughed. She had forgotten it was her birthday. Who does that?
"Oh, Alex. I forgot it was my birthday." she laughed more. "Like, I seriously forgot it was my birthday. So much has happened already."
"It's okay, we will make sure you have a wonderful birthday evening though. So, don't you worry." He kissed her mark and sent chills down her spine. "Let's go before we get dragged into bed again." he patted her butt and pushed her out the door.
As they traveled back to the war room she thought about how she was going to reject Ethan. She didn't want to be with Ethan, she didn't want to do anything with him. She wanted him gone and wanted to go back to the bedroom with her mate. They entered the room and she took the seat by Alex at the head of the table and waited for John to begin.
"So, as you now know you are a part of the White Wolf Clan. They were once the greatest clan there was until the battle happened. It came out of nowhere and they didn't know what happened. Before they knew it they had reached the pack house. The Luna, your mother, and the alpha, your father, were trying to get away. As the Luna was running away the alpha had to stay back because they were caught.
"She managed to get away and stay hidden for about two months until they found her again. When she knew she was in danger she dropped off her child at a fire station and ran." He pulled out an envelope.
"However, this was dropped off with you." He looked at the envelope and handed it over to her.
Open on her twenty-first birthday.
Melody looked at the envelope and put it back on the table. She had no idea what could possibly be said. She wanted to know but didn't think she had the strength in her to open the letter and read it. Alex grabbed her hand.
"Would you like to know more or not?" He asked her.
"I don't know." she informed him. "Yes," she told him when she made up her mind.
"By the time our clan was able to get to help them everything was gone. I mean everything. It was burned to the ground. There wasn't even a tree left in the entire camp. We tried to find someone anywhere and we didn't see a single body that was alive. And there were a lot of bodies." John shook his head at the memory. "I have never- I don't want to ever see anything like that again. It was terrible."
Melody saw the tears start to fall. She didn't want to know just how bad it was if it was this hard on him.
"So, when I started looking into you when I first met you. I just had to know what happened. You look too much like your mother to not know who you are. When I went into looking for your family, I started going backwards. I thought you were Melody White and I knew it was you but I needed the proof. I needed to make sure it was you.
"When I found out about you I knew what to do." He tapped the envelope. "You need to read it." He told her. "If you have any more questions I'll see if I can't help you." He stood up and walked out of the room.
Melody reached for the letter. She carefully opened the envelope and saw the perfect handwriting.
To my dearest Melody,
I am truly sorry for what I am having to do. I love you dearly my beautiful daughter. I didn't think that it would come to this, but it has. I promise I will find you one day and we will be together again. For now, we must be separate. For now, we must not see each other. We must not let other people know about you. You are special. You are magical.
I am sorry that we will not be able to watch you grow up and see who you become. I regret that this is what we have to do. One day we will see you again. Your father and I love you more than we could ever say. We wish that this was different and we were with you but that isn't the case. I hate that we aren't able to be with you.
We will find you, we will be together again. We love you.
Love always,
Mom and Dad
She put the letter down and felt the tear fall down her cheek. Looking at Alex she put her head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders. She pushed it to him and let him read it.
"'We'?" he questioned.
She looked up at him. "What?" She looked at the letter again.
"It says 'we'." he stood up to open the door. He had already mind linked his father. When he opened the door his father stepped in.
"Yes?" He asked Melody.
"Alex had a point, it says 'we'. I didn't think about that. Look," she handed it to him.
As he read it she began thinking about the fact that her mother could at least be alive after all.
"Hmm." was all John said.
"What does that mean?" she asked.
"Just, hmm." he told her. He didn't know what to do. He didn't think the plan would actually work. He didn't think that her escape would actually work after all. But if she survived then...
"The alpha," John sat down.
"What?" Alex didn't understand.
"Luna," John stated. "They- they couldn't have actually made it." He said.
"Made what?"
John started laughing; a smile on his face. He couldn't believe it. They must have made it to the place after all. Alex didn't understand what was going on. Nor did Melody. He kept laughing until his stomach hurt.
"Dad." Alex called out to him. He didn't listen, he still laughed. "John," he demanded in his alpha tone. John stopped laughing immediately.
"I'm sorry Alpha." John told him. A smile still on his lips.
"What is so funny? What the hell is going on?" He asked.
"They made it." he told them. "They made it."
"Who made what?"
"There was a plan, you know how we all have a plan if something happens and we are under attack and we don't see a way out?"
"Yeah, and?" he asked.
"The White Clan did too." John nodded his head. Alex was understanding now. "They made it." He said again.
"Great, now how do we find them?"
"Problem is, I'm the only one who knows where they are."
"How is that a problem?"
"Because that place was demolished during the battle."
